Do you mean iPad or iPhone?

The system has been built with Android Car Edition operation system (which you can't and shouldn't avoid because it is the most stable, friendly and modern operation in the car industry by now and near future).

It could run Wireless and USB APPLE CARPLAY for almost any iPhone back to iPhone 5 model, then you can control (Touchscreen and steering wheel controls) your iPhone from that headunit without seeing or touching your real iPhone (that phone then can be kept in a pocket, luggage bag or anywhere in the car when using Wireless Apple Carplay mode).

BTW the USA ones are better.
But be careful as I have 2 but only 1 has the cup insert. But they are very useful.

I meant iPad. Mini maybe. But if Android is essential to your setup then i think I'll stick with a dedicated head unit with flip out screen.

Getting ready for a trip over to help with the Shannon's Adelaide. Oil and filters, new tyres, new alternator, grease and check gearbox level (have slight drip from transfer case end), rear battery fitted for fridge and radio's. Son gave the underneath (not the engine bay) a pressure wash (he was the one that put the mud there!) and now i have the ABS light on all the time. :( . Wheel sensors test ok, but on start up ABS stays on HDC and TC will go out but come back on. Shuttle valve mod was done some time ago and diagnostics show it's functioning ok. Fuses OK. have had plugs out and cleaned. Any ideas?

is probably the O ring on the TC intermediate shaft. Check its oil as well.

The iPad actually is a tablet which in the theory it could be customised into your car no problem.

However, any tablet or iPad would not have some main car features like a normal headunit:

1- Direct speaker lines: iPad does only have 3.5mm jack output. This issue can be fixed by using a 3.5mm to 2x RCA connectors and then we have to use amplifiers to connect audio to speakers. Anyway, then the sound quality would not as good as a normal headunit.
2- No dedicate FM AM radio.
3- No reverse camera input.

If you are ok with those 3 points, then the next step is to create a special case to hold and fit and hide all wiring for the iPad due to the nature of wiring hanging on the side rather than from the back like a conventional headunit. It still can be made beautiful though.

Thanks mate! Didn't realise they made an upper style cup holder. Just need to find the mount for it now [emoji848]

Just search in eBay.com "discovery 2 cup holder" you will find more items and see the ones that come with bottom part (grey or beige) that helps mounting it directly to the centre console.

Reasons I like the ones from Supercheap because it can accommodate a wide range of cups, bottles, phones, objects with its very smart and sturdy design (up/down for much higher objects if need).
