    Unhappy Retired

Well my old '99 TD5 disco has finally been retired - For good. It had been smoking at idle for a while and everything suggested valve guide oil seals. The other day the head came off and a few words were said. Not only were the seals buggered so were #s 1 and 4 pistons.
By the time the block and head were reconditioned the cost would have been between 9 and 10 grand minimum. With no decent blocks or motors around, I sold it as is.
Therefore I am considering tending my resignation so will let you know in due course.
I have found a Mitsubishi Challenger diesel that looks interesting.

The last couple of days my D2 has had a lot of attention.

    1. Replaced smash RHR Brake/reverse light
    2. New wiper blades
    3. Major under body clean and wash
    4. Interior clean and vacuum
    5. Fixed a oil leak at the vacuum pump
    6. New oil and filters
    7. New trans fluid and filter
    8. New tyres Toyo open country MT 235x85
    9. Fixed the illuminated brake Dash light (needed Brake fluid) funny about that
    10. Greased all prop shafts and found loose TC output shaft Bolt (fixed that)

Just need to give it a polish and clean the interior windows

    New ignition barrel fitted

Today I fitted the new ignition barrel. It went smoothly, thanks to the input from the members here and really neat tutorial on what to do and how to do it.
I did snag something and the warning chimes started, took me a while to realise that the lights were on!

Finished the install of the Prado draws from 4wd supacentre, for under $400, these are a bargain. A little bit of modification to fit but a pretty straight forward job.

Did they fit without modifying? I didn't think they'd fit in my D2
