V8 looms can go brittle, it does get hot under that manifold

Yep I used to see it with old Jags....have to remind myself that these D2's ARE getting on too...Doesn't seem like it. So I take it new loom goes in one piece from ECU under dash on passenher side? Cheers

Mainly because after several attempts I was unable to efficiently repair a melted O2 plug. No problem sensor side but ECU side was the issue.

Also after closer inspection, so many wires to sensors had insulation that was brittle and some were exposed. And a few plugs had broken plugs.

Today I'm going to have another go at connecting the 4.6 ECU using sierrafery's ideas to negate the SAI.

    Cheers

Yep, all in one piece from the ECU all the way to the battery lead. Fairly straight forward job; just the oil pressure switch and the camshaft sensor are a PITA!

I went to collect an ARB bullbar from British Off Road up on the Sunshine Coast, a clean 45 minute drive each way. Fitted the bar and then went to Bribie Island for kayaking with the kids and my mate with his.

Two Disco 2's on the beach, TD5 for me, V8 for him.

Removed the exhaust manifold and turbo to put a new turbo cartridge in, de-web the manifold and put an EGT probe in.
Will probably remove the oil cooler coolant hose as well while there is access.

Got sprayed in ATF whilst I was repairing a convertible top cylinder on another car. Took ages as I had to move the Camira to get the Torana out so I could get to the Commodore. I first I had to get the keys to the Cortina if I was gonna move that Camira....(oh and I didn't hit he boat)........

Busy time, not just today but over last week or 2.

New rear door ladder (Christmas pressy!!), new radiator to tank hose, new auto trans to trans cooler pipe, rebuilt starter motor ($40 for plunger and points or $300 for rebuilt starter. I chose the $40 option).

Today: serviced auto transmission, topped up/checked Diffs (changed 6 months ago), checked transfer case oil, new silicon intercooler hoses, and an oil change.

What's funnier than dropping the engine oil out and refilling with new oil before remembering that you have forgotten to replace both filters? Doing it TWICE in a row! I'm a ninja at dropping out the oil now!
