So... what then is the difference between an Ashcroft Td5 HD TC and a V8 TC?
Well if you get the v8 rebuilt through TCT it’s all billet internals where Ashcroft doesn’t say what it is
Thats what I thought too.
What made me wonder is the Ashcroft pricing is:
Torque Converters – Ashcroft Transmissions
Torque Converter £190.00,
Td5 HD Torque Converter Fitting Kit £160.00
or
Td5 HD Torque Converter with Fitting Kit £760.00
I'm just not sure why you wouldn't buy a V8 TC and fitting kit (£350.00) over a Td5 Torque Converter with Fitting Kit (£760.00). All of these appear to be 4 bolt.
In my experience, Dave Ashcroft responds ( succinctly ) to emails. Ask him.
I just didn't like to waste his time with him being asked the same question a million times when others may know, especially as I'm not waving money at him. I've flicked him an email and I'll let you know what the go is.
What got me thinking initially was that the V8 TC worked well with the stock Td5, but they say the Ashcroft one needs an upgraded motor to work well, which I thought was a V8 one. So if the Ashcroft one is now a V8 TC and instead of the TC bolts being modified that the flex plate is not a Td5/V8 TC adaptor, then why is that set of the TC/Flex plate more than the cost of the individual parts. Anyway, hopefully clarity will come.
Factory radio was still fully operational but no Bluetooth. I wanted a camera anyway and not keen on cutting up the dash for a double DIN.
