CPS ( or CAS ) wiring loom

So, it wasn't the actual CPS that failed. I was tidying up some wires at the back of the engine near the inlet manifold and must have disturbed the CPS wiring. This stuff is so age and heat hardened that it became brittle, and broke away at the actual plug driving to the workshop. Got it running by pushing the broken wires into the back of the plug and went home. By pulling out the insulation material I was able to expose enough wire to solder on a bit of two core. Two problems: the same thing is likely to happen given how poor the joints must be, and as the flex is not shielded the starter interferes with the signal and the car does not start instantly like it used to. Hall effect and all that...

A while back someone suggested a new loom that bypassed the main harness and went direct to the ECU. Might have been Slunnie. Can someone point me at that?

Hi, google out "Td5 crank sensor wiring overlay" ... seems out of stock but you can do it yourself if you get a connector(STC1188) and buy a piece of cable, you should find this kind down under Black 2 core screened cable – EFI Parts

Wow, didn't know how ubiquitous that connector was. Thanks, SF, makes life easier.. Now I just need to know where to pin it to the ECU, and I should be able to work that out.

See RAVE - Electrical library - Connector views and connect as follows:
    C0168 - 1 to C0158 - 13, C0168 - 2 to C0158 - 36 and the screen to C0158 - 16

Thanks.. Heck, looks like I can get the damn things from Mouser. Got an account there and a list. Expect they might have the cable as well, although Jaycar will have that.
