Half way between Boonah and Balina Qld and my ACE decides to crack a big leak.

Not sure where until I get home.

I carried the idler pulley and belt for a non ACE vehicle as spares.

One and a half hours later my D2 is now void of ACE option

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

If you're lazy a 7PK1560 fits without the idler pulley, I believe it'll fit with the ace pump still installed. Good luck catching it before the pump failed catastrophically

After sitting around for 3 weeks waiting for a new MAF and front passenger window motor, I put it together this evening and got 5k down the road and the headlights dimmed with battery light on.....

And to add insult I had done the 1.36 to 1.4 firmware update on the nanocom b4 I went out and it wouldn't save to the 64Gb sd card (yes I know the instructions say 16Gb but it was working fine with 32Gb as well on the 1.36 firmware) anyway I'll try a format with the black box software b4 I change sd cards.

So off to wreckers tomorrow see if they still have a D2 there with alternator, just in case it's more than worn down brushes.

Hmmm..maybe I should just put a carby 202 and a traumatic in it.

    Get a 186, not a 202.

202's were renowed for breaking pistons. I had it happen to me about 38 years ago.

My 2nd wedding anniversary was in the shed fitting a new engine, drinking champagne with the SWMBO.

Pulled the tops off them, IIRC.

They had hypereutectic pistons 40 yrs ago (or equivalent) that's what I used in all my rebuilds.

However a well tuned 253 had much more poke and for only a smidgen more fuel consumption than 202s

But I jumped from 149s to 202s to only 1 253 and then to the mighty 308s which in my never humble opinion were a better donk to power up above stock than the 350s of the time.

    Oh wait...land rover forum.

Got around to looking at alternator this arvo, looks like brushes and slip ring fubar, off to do the rounds of the local auto sparkies tomorrow for parts, at least they're common to toyota so hopefully someone has something somewhere.

Staked a tyre.. Oh well, need new ones soon... But.. I usually have a couple of jacks. Not today. Just the one that came with the car from the factory. Not to worry, I check it and keep it topped up with oil... So, it worked fine... only it doesn't actually lift the car high enough to get the wheel off..... Probably it would if I had a flat on a concrete slab, but not on the grass where I was.

I'd like to know how you get on. I have my old one here that died years ago. Took it to a big well known auto elec mob in Dandenong. Went to get it and they told me they couldn't get the rectifier, which to me translates to "we couldn't be ****ed looking at it". I dug it out the other day and figured it would be good to have a spare.
