I've had a similar experience in slushy snow. So i've now put a "momentary on" switch between the cut wire ends in the the SLABS feed and now i have a choice of TC + CDL (the default) or "push" the switch down whilst starting the D2 with CDL selected and have only the CDL because now the TC will be fully inhibited. Although the ABS lamp will be lit as well as the TC the ABS will still function.

And i bet your`s is a Auto .Which does not at all surprise me

Just on the TC kicking in, you would have to accelerate for that to happen.

Did you perhaps mean the HDC? ( Hill Descent Control) or ABS if you were using the brakes without using the HDC.

I would have thought that you would use the HDC on a wet slippery hill, as long as you have the patience for it. I remember I was using it coming down Mt Pinnabar and I got bored with the slow progress and disengaged it causing a mini slide down the hill which clenched the bum.

However the autos are fine downhill, if you know how to use them properly.

Yes i have a TD5 Auto...

My peripheral vision caught the yellow TC light flashing and there may have been a red one but my attention was diverted to what was happening outside. It was all over in a flash. To be honest I was probably going too quick for the changing terrain conditions - I was in low second letting it drive downhill under engine braking it suddenly got steeper and where i came unstuck was where the cattle choose to traverse between paddocks and it was pretty cut by their hooves. I didn't touch the brakes. I'd done the trip many times before in the dry and was obviously over confident....

A lesson learned.

Yeah right its about time you listened and learnt young one
Auto`s and manual`s down steep hill`s is a old chesnut that some get and some dont

I spend a fair bit of time driving manuals down steep hills at work, then I go and drive my auto down steep hills for fun
And the average Auto, maybe. But the auto in the D2 is smart enough to lock the torque converter if in the correct mode, which makes downhill trips a non issue.
Oh and today I drove my auto D2 to and from work, no issues
