Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.
LROCV #1410
They actually looked quite good. There was maybe 1.5cm square broken off the plastic section of the adjustable guide (one with more metal)
I figured I'm not planning on pulling this apart againI'll grab some pics tomorrow
Pics of the guides as per request.
You can see the small section broken off the top of the adjustable guide and the marks from where the chain has worn into them.
So not catastrophic but still I think a good move to replace them. I also got to sneak a finger onto the oil pump bolt and it's not loose enough to undo with a finger so that's a job that can wait
Any luck it will drive out of the garage tonight, just sent mum into Supercrap to get an oil filter to replace the one I stabbed

D2 TD5 has been a bit temperamental lately with not starting. I was hearing a click from under the bonnet when the key was turned but the starter wasn't engaging. So after much googling and forum'ing I decided the starter motor needed a rebuild.
Today I pulled it out. Got grease and oil past my elbows, argued with the top nut a few times, but I won and it came out. But then I bench tested it and it engaged every time...frustrating! So I figured that seeing as it's out I may as well rebuild it anyway. Here's some pics of the inside connections and plunger

So I'm off to get a rebuild kit tomorrow. But I noticed that the back O ring is starting to perish, is this ok or should I crack it open and replace it also?
