Bugger. And yes you can get a very strong shaft from Tom Woods through J..p Connection or Hardy Spicer shaft etc. My preference is Woods. Cheers

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

    The definition of happiness:

I've never been able to work out what the 4 wires (black, white, blue, red) under the dash are for. They've been professionally installed but just cut off & left hanging. To make it more confusing, the black one was live from the battery through a 20amp auto circuit breaker. Nothing was made safe with insulation tape...a car fire just waiting to happen!

Well it turns out that those 4 wires used to be for a brake controller...which I'm doing this week!! No running a wire to trailer plug or searching for the brake pedal activation wire. Seems too easy. Something is bound to go wrong. All I've need to do is upgrade the battery wires as they weren't thick enough and change the circuit breaker to 30amp.

See, some land rover repairs to actually end in happiness!

    sure...

Changed my ECM over to the one I used to tow the van round OZ,,
It had to relearn, well, everything,, ( WHY ??? ) to the accompanying piston rattles-------
    but wait, theres more!
after one (admittedly split second) LOUD rattle I noticed one of my
O2s is now sitting on 1.1V,, , I imagine if I went outside now,, its still on 1.1,,

There is good news however (small)! The LPG now runs!

    sigh,,

Replaced the passenger side idler pull for the auxiliary belt. While doing that job found a hole the rubber air inlet hose between MAF and turbo.

    Big day.
The other day I sorted a kinked coolant hose, replaced the fpr gasket and tightened the metal pipes into it, and threadsealed the timing chain tensioner pin which was leaking due the thread being damaged and it not seating.
Today I made V2 of my harmonic balancer holder, removed the old balancer, fit the new one (after snapping one of the pulley section bolts and an emergency dash to my mechanics, WTF), got it on and torqued up (hope my maths is right), fan on, new belt on, and it drove for the first time since October!

Also went and bought an RFI antenna for my strike phone cradle. Have a serious oil leak to attend to, my bet is on a pinched sump gasket in the drivers side front corner from when I did the timing cover. Also need to sort out why the cooling system is STILL pressurising the header tank What happened to your Discovery 2 today? What happened to your Discovery 2 today? What happened to your Discovery 2 today?
But all in all a good day
