After a couple of hours of sweat and worry I finally got the snorkel fitted.
It felt very unnatural taking a hole saw and a grinder to my disco but after measuring three times and cutting once all went well.

Finally finished and installed the brackets for my D2a bonnet rams. Used scrap flat and right angled aluminium rivetted to bonnet and engine bay sides.
No idea why the pic turns on its side when up loaded.

How did you go with replacing the timing chain cover?
I was speaking to Mitch (toxic avenger) on weekend who said you were worried that changing it necessitated taking the head off, which according to at least 1 mechanic that I have spoken to (I have a suspected flogged out main fan bearing housing) not required, if you hadn't fixed it/found out already.
Howdy.
Yes according to RAVE the head needs to come off, however both Justin Cooper and Alien on here have stated that it can be replaced in situ. I managed to round a bellhousing bolt last night, so today while I was at work I sent dad to grab me a more appropriate socket, so I should have everything sorted by Friday!
Cheers

going to take this apart and find cause of problem. place your bets.[/QUOTE]
my monies on a crack in the water jacket that runs between the cylinders
The mechanic I spoke to mentioned that he recently did this job and that he removed the sump to assist with access to the timing case cover somehow. I could pass on the mechanics name if you wanted to find out more about the job in more detail.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
Sump dropped down this evening, as well as the viscous fan bearing out of the old timing cover.
Old cover will be dropped out tomorrow and reassembly can begin.
And then I need to fit my 7100s in the front before I go back to work!
And I should probably get ready for Melrose...

Can I ask what Melrose is?
Seen few people post about it
