Mate it was $400 second hand stocker from Hong Kong with 25k on it. Like new. The drive train is noticeably tighter - virtually took out the backlash - and really apart from hearing the Duratracs now and more burble from the bent 8 she drives like new.

I had quite a few problems with the transmission shop. They tried to tell me it was the r380...even though 4th was as loud as 5th and even though it was noisy in all gears in low range. They wanted to rebuild the 5 speed.

I insisted that they put in the supplied transfer case. They did. Then they said it must be the fact that they oil changed the r380...really...oil change now all quiet and no grinding and feeling of loose bearing...wow. good oil.

Actually all they achieved is losing my Penrite Pro Synthetic oil that I put into the 5 speed a week ago after flushing...

Diff lock works but light no longer coming on...need to see if that is co-incidence and blown light or terminals not attached properly or worse still switch in need of adjusting. Not happy about that.

I haven't got the bill yet. What do you reckon is reasonable for remove and refit transfer but also changing over my output housing (ie diff lock) to new transfer?

    Cheers

JC would be the best to ask re labour, the only times I've done it has been a trolley jack on the workshop floor, a hoist and transmission jack makes it all so much easier.
Having said that it wasn't that onerous the last time I did it, and I remember cols110 did his old Deefer one in a campground once!

What's the betting the spades aren't pushed onto the diff lock switch.

Thanks Rick. That's why I didn't do it. No hoist and too busy to boot at present. My brother has one but couldn't get time to get down to use it.

I bet too... trouble is I suspect I need to remove the centre console for that...might be able to reach up around from underneath but doubt it.

    Cheers

Well the Nanocom is working again but auto didn't want to play at at the beginning of the day.

D started flashing, as did the M&S lights as I drove out the drive way.
Stopping and restarting didn't clear it either.
    ****.
    Back into the front yard.
Check the faults, CAN something or other error.
    Clear.
    Didn't work.
    Clear and restart.
Now all working and hasn't been an issue all day.

The Deefer hasn't gone to the new owner yet.....

Start by checking the ecu plug for oil contamination. CAN wires are the ones that sit in the oil.

    Bingo.

I gave the plug a really good clean out with contact cleaner before I left Alice Springs and haven't revisited it again.

Replaced a few loose studs on exhaust and replaced the system resonators (straight through centre and no rear) - picked up a few seat of the pants HP, and has a much neater V8 sound!
    Slowly getting it right again

Put LED's in the instrument binnacle. Not too bright but attractive and very clear. Didn't use green covers. Also removed dead centre diff lock switch and ordered another from Mario at Roverlord (Thanks champ!). Bought 3.1amp USB socket backlit for insertion whilst console is out. Repaired ripped high density foam with Sikaflex. Going to install some more high density foam under cubby and window switches as I have some.there and might as well.use it.

    Cheers
