A bunch of stuff got done today.

So I had a couple of exhaust leaks. Between the exhaust manifold and turbo, between the turbo and exhaust pipe and the rear of the exhaust manifold. The oil, all filters, serpentine belt and the injector loom were all past their use by date too so today I bit the bullet.

Getting the turbo off was a bit of a bear thanks to the bolts holding the turbo oil return pipe and the bolts to the exhaust pipe but with a bit of knuckle skinning and swearing they all came off. Eventually. Getting the manifold off was a bit fun too - I have aircon and ACE so moving things around was chock full of interest and excitement.

The manifold was a bit banana shaped so I took it down to a local metal wrangling place and for a couple of six packs of Coopers Vintage Ale it was machined nice and flat - gotta love "mates rates"... I may have helped him deal with what was clearly an excess of Coopers.

Back home and it all went together easily after giving the manifold face a good clean and removing the existing studs and nuts and replacing them. Well, mostly easy anyway. I took about an hour to get the bolts holding the turbo oil return pipe back in. What a pain that thing is. The positioning of the bolt nearest the engine is on a par with the "third nut" on the starter motor.

Next up was the injector loom. That seemed to go really easily just a bit time consuming is all.

And onto the oil, air and fuel filters. No problems. I even managed to get the full flow filter off without spilling any. I found a dead mouse in the air box too. Wonder how long it'd been there ???

Time to drain and refill the oil and it was all done.

No time for a test drive - it was time to start cooking dinner and have a glass of plonk.
    Cheers,

Have you enlarged the exhaust manifold stud holes and or dewebbed the face?

They look like the stainless steel poly wrapped ones. Can you clamp the hose?

I didn't bother with dewebbing or the larger studs. The originals were in good-ish condition so I just replaced them. The warping was a little under 1.5mm so it was clamped onto the bed of a milling machine and flattened. It now has a nice smooth flat surface with very fine cross hatching.
