Even that combo is a bit tricky! I think it was normally M57 and 6HP and then it was N57 with 8HP. I’d like the M57 with an 8HP though!

Which one had Jif and maybe 2 mins of rubbing?
……now finish it off with Brasso metal polish, then clean up the polished surface with metho and when that’s dry follow on with a generous spray of AmorAll protectant - leave it “marinate” for a minute or two and then finally buff it up with soft cloth - stand back and admire your handy work.

I did this on my 2010 Subaru Forester and I re-apply the AmorAll a couple of times a year - it keeps the lights looking as good as new What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

    D2a starter

More starter fun, when the D2 starter went only got a couple starts, the D2a gave me four. So out with the starter and found it had a replacement starter - no brand. Still the generic kit worked but the top seal did not. Aint been driven for a while and appreciate the lack of induction / turbo noise and it feels nice, just doesn't go with the same gusto.

Still haven't had replies re the HTG controller for the 8HP and adaptor kit... Sending new messages today.

    Unexpected oil leak

So, there has been this persistent little oil leak, not enough to effect the level, just enough to drip once in a while, couldn't figure out where from, seemed to be low on the drivers side but the sump gasket was fine.

Finally found it, the o rings needed changing on the dip stick, stupid little thing, 5 minute job, solved the issue.

So if you have an annoying little leak that seems to come out of nowhere, it's worth a look.

Spent the day driving around fraser Island, always enjoy the trip across the island more than actually being on the beach

    Up in the snow

This was nearly to weeks a go. Stayed in Bright, on Friday, I drove up to Dinner Plain. Had to put snow chains on to get past Mt Hotham. No need for snow chains!! no slow ice or slush on the road. Repeat on Saturday and yes you have to put chains on. No need for chains at all. I could have driven my Toyota echo up their, no chains, no probs. This is very annoying. On Sunday we wen to Mt Buffalo. I was asked if I had chains, yes I said, do you want to see them, no he replied You have a good car and he patted the fender of the Disco. It is the city types in their two wheel drives that concern us. Well there were a few patches of black ice. The car did a bit of a shimmy once but all was good.

    Finally!

After cursing and swearing at the noise and vibrations for that long i finally put the new engine mounts in today! Why did i wait so long, the silence is deafening, i can hear the radio with out the car next to me listening too. I think they where a bit overdue, only 200,000Kms since last change. Also noticed a coolant leak while under there, guessing it's the oil cooler again, only 100,000kms since i put new gaskets on there. Also gave the the big red ECU plug a clean, idles much better as well. 4hrs well spent today.
