    A couple of wins

I fitted the hugely expensive control rod. The rod that connects the outer door handle to the door latch.
And as the temp gauge was not showing temp, I cleaned the contacts of the sensor and plug with contact cleaner. The temp gauge works again. This cleaning is a 2 yearly event.

Couldn’t lock or unlock my D2

So today for the first time ever( had disco since 2011) I could not lock or unlock Disco with the key Fob when I parked outside a kids gym,
Sometimes it would then it wouldn’t…Then I remembered about the electric doors on some buildings that interfere with the remote..When I did get it to work and start the car and move it..all was working again as it should…
This was in Perth, Joondalup at “Ape Escape”…
So those of you in Perth with a D2 take note be aware that the doors at this place interfere!
Am happy it was simple..and that even though I am getting old ..my memory is still good😁🤣

    New Headling

    Got the headling replaced.

    Took about 3 hours.

    Good colour match with original.

    $500

    They came to me.

Needed to get it fixed prior to RWC tomorrow.

    Drive Craft

    If any one is interested.

Seems to have done a good job.
    Cheers

They love their tricks, don't they?

Haven't used it for two days. Went to go out and when I turned the key to position II it started... Not good, starter tried to remain engaged with engine running. Also noticed an issue with the gear selection indicators, console AND odo. Shut off quickly, no issue. First thoughts, why would the ignition switch and XYZ cause problems simultaneously? But, starter won't engage when the selector is anywhere but P or N. Nanocom shows the switches opening and closing as usual. Removed relay 2 underbonnet to check all of this, as I can't have the ign switch on otherwise as it will start. With engine running gears engage as usual, with no M&S flashing.

Two things I thought of; 1, we have had considerable rain, but the floor etc is dry, and 2, my little experiment the other day switching it from auto to manual in the nano to see if it would start in gear, ( Post #7 ) but I reversed that and it was fine afterwards, and the nano shows it as Auto again. And why would that affect the starter engaging in position II?

Interesting times.... Guess I'm not going out.

Did they have it out long enough for you to change the RF receiver had you needed to?

Going to disconnect the battery, then reconnect and look at the settings in the nano. I'm wondering, BCU?

Yes. So I drove it. Drives normally, all shifts as expected, sport mode works. Selector showed P most of the time but changed to D for a time. Back in P now. Still starts if the key is in position II. NANOCOM shows that all switch inputs, both XYZ and ignition, are being read as expected, well I think so, they definitely change as the key or selector are moved.
All this seems to eliminate the DYS and the key as suspect but I’m not so sanguine as to believe that.

And now I notice that if I move the selector with the key off it will indicate the correct gear when switched back on. Doesn’t move otherwise.

    Sigh

    Yes they did

They had to scrub down the roof liner with a wire brush to remove the residual foam stuff & then apply the glue then roof liner material.

Probably have a window of an hour or so.
