We've had our Disco 2 since January so I figured I'd better get some photos up. Here it is as purchased. (Well almost. It had side-steps but I sold them off pretty quickly)
It was a cheap buy to replace our Disco 1 with the aim of having a bigger load space, more power and more room under the wheel arches for bigger tyres.
It's spent a couple of months off the road while I sorted a few issues it had - some I was aware of and others not.
First was the hood lining and roof paint. It had the standard sag over head which I knew was a minor problem. The roof had a couple of scrapes along it where it looked like it had been driven under something.
When I gave it it's first bath I discovered the windscreen leaked. Fortunately I took out glass insurance, unfortunately the top of the windscreen opening was very rusty. It was good timing though as I would have hated to have found the rust after the roof had been repainted.
Back on the road for a week or so and I confirmed that the head gasket was on the way out. A couple of weeks in the shed and its all fixed now with the head fully reconditioned and proper dowels fitted!.
Since then I have fitted:
- 265/75/16 Kumho KL71 tyres (it came with 40mm lift)
- Winch
- Fitted factory flares (that almost got chopped up to go on the Disco 1)
- Prodigy trailer brake controller
- Rewired the spot lights and repaired the heavy wiring to the power outlet in the cargo area.
I've also bought a set of 18" wheels with road tyres on to look after the Kumhos.
Still to be done:
- CDL lever (to be done in the next fortnight)
- Second battery
- Anderson plug to charge the camper trailer battery
- Onboard air (I kept the compressor I'd just fitted to the Disco 1)
