    Re Keg Cooler.

If it was me I'd still have the pub pre-cool it in their cold room for a few days from ordering & use the cabinet as cool Storage.

Assuming Pub Outlets still pre-cool these days for clients.

Wrong Ian, Ian. Last I heard from THAT Ian he was Carrier's man in Wollongong. Bugger me! He'd be in his sixties now

    Great bloke.

No pub involved, @RB can a freezer be turned down that much though ? I was thinking maybe you put a fridge thermostat in it.

Yes, it can be done, change the thermostat as most freezer one will not turn up far enough. Google it, there is a couple of different ways to do it.

My son brews in kegs. He says it takes an age to cool a keg in a fridge, but if the hose is long enough, there will be a couple of glasses in the line.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Exactly Ian. Fridge normally only has a small comp. Used to be.. 1/6,1/8, 1/4, HP Ok for a what a Fridge is normally used for but not even a small keg.

In the "olden days" you bought the keg & contents from a pub & they would shove it in the Local Cold Store/Ice Works for a few days. one then picked it up when required. But times move on. They would normally supply the glasses as well.

Stacking Crushed Ice around the keg is another option but really it needs to be cold already.

You know how rowdy warm Beer drinkers can turn into a Mutinous mob.

    Yep,that will make it colder....

You could turn it up to its warmest setting, but it will still be too cold, need to replace the thermostat with one for a refrigerator, but it needs to be the correct one.

Whether you want to use a thermostat in the air or one that slides in the same pocket as the freezer one is in will determine which one you need.

Whatever you do dont drill a hole in the side wall of the freezer as that is where the condenser tubes run.
Seen it done a few times.

You'll probably kill the freezer eventually as they aren't designed to run that high a suction temp.

Yes needs air movement, and 24 hours minimum.
There are small Keg fridges available, google is your friend.
They have a fan in them similar to a commercial cabinet and are the size of a large bar fridge.

FWIW,we have cold rooms that they put 100's of warm kegs in at one of our sites.
They are cold when they leave the brewery, but by the time the truck arrives at site, and the room is loaded, they are quite warm.
It generally takes 4 days for the beer to get to 1 degrees.
On days of around 35 to 40 degrees, it takes 5 to 6 days.

Yes thats correct, but I have seen many that run warmer and seem to last years.
Its also the short cycling that kills them, particularly if the thermostat is in the air as they are not cap start high torque compressors.

They need to have a very wide differential.

Or the compressor overload goes open circuit from short cycling, which causes the compressor to cycle on its overload, which its not designed for.
