The supplied bridge from Schneider crossed the phases when it went to Delta.
Visually you couldn't see it, you had to meter it as the bridge was all plastic encased but no way it had been running.
I think he just walked away as it was a $25k job and he didn't want to be responsible, but it took a fridgey to fix it.

It happens more than one would like to admit, Ian. Fridgie work entails a lot of Silver soldering work in confined spaces as you you would be aware.
Get too close to a runaway or misdirected Air/Acet torch when your arse is up in the air as you turn yourself inside out. Protective Goggles can be impractical due to fogging up.
No eyebrows are a trade hazard. And geeez the stink!

Those old Pope 2.5Hp RAC's were a 3/4 man job to removeW&S.
Forty years ago I'd never heard of them until a Sales Engineer where I worked at the time said he was going with them as the SA Rep.
Sad in a way that the companies that we knew so well & in most cases respected have all disappeared. Kelvy was another. POPE? Was never a manufacturer of quality gear imho. Why? simple really, the panels on their units were meant for Battleship Armour. Heavy as old **** & badly fitting.
Maybe it was summat we said.

We had them in animal houses full of smelly pigs, sheep,goats,horses,etc.
Walking around in hay and crap,took 3 of us to get them out, no genie lifters in those days.
Then strip them down, pressure clean then assemble, test run.
The 3 phase ones had a million wires, maybe 15, running to a switchboard mounted on the wall next to them.
We had to pull all the wires out,each was numbered, then wire them into the spare switchboard we had at the workshop.
They had these huge wooden front covers that were also very heavy, with one screw each side.
They also had Doves,wrens,hawks,and single phase Pelicans.
They were the go to AC for Telecom in their day as well, mate of mine used to buy them at the auction,they came out of telecom buildings, payed very little for them, just bidding against scrap dealers.
Used to fix them on the weekend and flog them off in the weekend shopper, in the Courier Mail.
Advertise one, but have 10 or so,would sell them all in one hot weekend.
They were the good old days.

I tried to escape the Menagerie as well with some degree of success I might add.
Garden sprinklers to Package Air Conditioners imho was a step too far. Better that they stuck with **** metal stuff.
