Title says it all really, I am now a green P plater legally driving a V8 Range Rover in the nanny state


Quite happy; however I also bring bad news to my fellow P-plater Rover V8 enthusiasts, I did not get it for the car being moderate performance, so others can't follow in my footsteps.

I'll start a thread shortly, once i figure out how to put photos up, already put some 235/85-16 Bighorns on it, so gotta get it muddy (after exams).

Not really related but i drive a 300tdi Disco and got pulled over about a week after i got it.
The young police officer came over and asked for my licence etc (It was an RBT) he then, after seeing at the TDI sticker on the back while doing a walk around of my vehicle proceeded to inform me that it was not legal for me to drive a turbo'd vehicle because i am on my P's and that i was going to recieve a fine and wouldn't be able to drive my car home.

I informed him that it was diesel and so legal for me to drive. He told me not to try and get out of it and that it would be best for me to not make it worse for myself.
I told him again that he was wrong and sounding very frustrated he went and spoke to his colleague.
He then sent his colleague back to tell me i could go

It was just a little funny. You'd think they would know their stuff. Apparently not

Mate of mine had a cop point at his alternator and tell him it was a supercharger

They could probably ping me for my tyres after they've let me off for it being a V8

One advantage of having a second set with standard ones though

I've done the Tdi and Td5 Disco thing before. Diesels are too expensive for a toy as a uni student, driving 150km's a day is too many k's for an LR IMO, so cheap toy and once I lose the Disco I'm the custodian of I'll have to get a **** box to commute it (that's logical... do loads of K's in a rubbish car and drive the good one occasionally...).

And I've never been pulled over in a Landy yet!! Even driving past at 10 clicks over (touch wood).
