Conversion for basic LPG is about $1200-1800, for injection which is better, it about $2500-3500 and you used to get a govt rebate not sure now.
Have a look at the D2 in markets setup, he has the 3 torpedo tanks that raise the floor about 25mm.
As to availability, use it as a long range tank, keep petrol full, run on gas till empty then use petrol which is available everywhere.
Cost may be higher in Tasmania, but as you said your looking to drive in Vic as well, where it's cheaper than every other state.![]()
Owning Mercs and a Commodore, although the Mercs are more comfortable and more stylish, they are also more complex and more expensive to maintain.
Your choice but that is in part why my Commodore is the daily drive and the Mercs are hobby cars. Even as I type, one of the Mercs is in "the expensive care ward".
Wait until a late D1 Tdi turns up.. (They're about so it will), or go with a late Classic Rangie and b done with it. Option 2 is to find a clean Disco Td5, and get someone who knows what they're doing to rip out all the crap and run it on a simple Defender ECU. The Td5 is a strong reliable engine if looked after. I'd own another tomorrow.![]()
