Unbelievable, I hope they charge the motorist with attempted murder using a weapon or something of the sort.

Although I in no way condone the actions of the motorist, it appears this was a road rage incident that escalated out of control.
A comment from elsewhere:
And trouble they both got. When you ride up and start banging on their window, THAT is road rage! Very provocative act and just asking for trouble.
I think there is a lot more to the story yet to be revealed.
Had I been the driver, I would have noted the registration number of the bicycle and reported the road gage incident to police with my dash cam footage.
Oh! I forgot. Bicycles aren't registered.
As a youngster used to ride for miles through the storm water drains, never saw a pesky Mini down there either.
Probably a big no no now
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
apologies to Socrates
Clancy MY15 110 Defender
Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
A road rage incident no doubt, however irrespective of the actions and reactions of the cyclist, nothing justifies crossing the road to the wrong side of the road and intentionally running into someone!
"He then veered across the road and ran me down deliberately. He was accelerating into me. He went against traffic to do it.?
Note the continuous dividing line, the position of the car in relation to it and it's direction of travel.

To be fair to the packs. Those I know of anyway. They tend to start and end their midweek rides early and they tend to ride at 40kmph plus. So the roads are quiet and the pack is travelling at close to speed limit. Why is that an issue?
Is this because cycling popularity has rocketed in Australia this last decade. And we are enduring the adjustment/awareness phase?
For what it's worth, I concur with the sentiment of the originally posted article.
I was wondering about the trim panel missing from the front corner of the car, then one wonders if that was taken off by the earlier incident (irrespective of who was at fault) and the cyclist decided to depart the scene???? Hence the road rage incident.
But I guess, as you mentioned, the motorists camera would have recorded the incident and the cyclists rego number as he took off! (No I actually have no idea of what happened, and still nothing excuses crossing the road and running someone over)
