If you have form for several speeding offences you ARE a serial offender
So once the current offence is heard, if you are found guilty (and that's when your form is raised) - Yes, they should see you have a history of such offences..
If found not guilty then you're good to go!
If you are a serial speeder ( and I'm not talking 5-10ks over the limit here) you should not be on the road, you are a danger to other road users. The same goes in the example I mentioned above about ferals, if you are a dead set loser with a heap of priors, why should you get a slap on the wrist by the judge, you are a danger to society.
Agree... absolutely.
Plenty of "never had a licence, drive like a moron" types in town... SAPOL have a field day with them...
They go to court, come out, do it again....
Some time in Her Majesty's hotel would do them well..
So ............. tell me that the judge got it right in this case.

****ing disgusting as far as I'm concerned. This judge deserves nothing less than to be the victim of a pretty horrific crime herself. If the victim of this arsehole was my daughter, both he and the ****weak judge would both want to be keeping an eye over their shoulder.
The sooner the power to pass sentence is taken out of the hands of the judiciary, the better.
Cheers .........

Perhaps a committee could be formed,,, a committee of people who have suffered at the hands of these people,,, then maybe we will see some real justice. I don't know who's in charge now, but things really do need to change. They need to listen to what people are saying and move things around somewhat. There no "sides" to this,,, as in politics,, you just think that as educated people, they'd be able to read it the paper, watch the news and see what's happening out there in the real world. I would think most people involved with this process, are well to do, and probably well off too, therefore, in their own little world, they probably don't see any of this in their areas.
Reminds me of bosses who have long forgotten what it's like to actually work,, hands on.
I was going to say an "itty bitty titty committee"

I have a friend and a cousin who are currently police officers.
Having a chat over a few beers about their work sounds nothing like the tripe being aired here.
They have both seen and been involved in some quite horrible things as part of their job description and sitting quietly with them can be quite a morbid experience.
I suggest some of you guys get some first hand information and stop quoting newspapers or the radio jocks.
From my cousin and friend , there are NO quotas. There ARE focussed campaigns and raised public awareness towards certain areas..."targets".....but not on a quota basis.
