Mick, it’s about time these guys started hitting back. It will only stop when these purveyors of rubbish get sued to bankruptcy and people start getting fired. So far there have been no consequences for the accusers or the muck rakers.

In the last year two have been accused of sexual harassment and both were about to be sacked based on the story of their accusers. Luckily the video and audio footage exonerated my mates, and hugely embarrassed not only the accusers, but the militant bureaucratic asswipes who were so gung-ho to crucify anyone doing wrongspeak.

The trial by media gives me the ****s. If there is an acusation, take it to the Police and let them sort it out from the evidence produced and let them lay charges as warranted.

Too many reputations being destroyed for no reason IMO.

It's been happening for years - a good friend of our family - A Principal of a School, was accused by 2 ex pupils 15 years after he had taught them from 'repressed memories' which were later discredited and charges dropped. Didn't stop him from losing his job, his family and everything he had ever worked for. We knew he was innocent but the State and the Media buried him. He never recovered from this.

Not if you put it in clear view on your desk...and tell every female staffer who comes in alone that this is protection for both of you. If they don't like it, then they can bring their own unit... or a Friend.

Naturally, this would lead to 'The Discussion' which may or may not be...Illuminating...

Yes, I think it's a terrible way to live & do business, and so far I've not had occasion to utilise the body-cam I carry with me in the car, - and prefer that to be the case.

(It's normal for a Copper on a 'Stop' to ask for Engine - Off.. killing the Dash-Cam...)

Having been 'singed' by a baseless accusation which was delivered in a less than professional manner and setting (not just my opinion) and cascaded into ill-health.... I'd rather waste a lot of pro-active energy ...than be burnt again.

I feel for that School Principal falsely destroyed...

I agree. Clear view, tell 'em you are recording and filming. Coppers are free to film and record you, tell 'em that you are doing the same thing. If they demur, request name and station number, preferably before you turn your camera off. ALL dashcams should include GPS, as this ensures location and time in the metadata.

My point was, though, to not open yourself up to further accusations, which secret filming almost certainly will. "Clear view on your desk" probably would be insufficient in this day and age.

Love to hear from a Lawyer versed in this field on this topic. I have been told that the ubiquitous "Your call may be recorded" spiel you get when calling almost any organisation these days does NOT mean that you can record them. Why not? "May be recorded" surely floats both ways. Well, apparently not.

    Be careful out there.

I always ask the police or transport officer if they are recording, and inform them that I am too.
Under the Privacy Act, you are allowed to record a conversation if you are a party to it. You are not required to inform the other parties involved, but I generally do so. There are restrictions on what you can do with the recording, but using it in a court of law is an appropriate use.

Just noticed I never actually answered your original question John - I think it's fine to still enjoy movies from discredited actors. One of my favourite films is The Usual Suspects and I watched that again the other week and still enjoyed it. I also love House of Cards too - both staring Kevin Spacey.

Another one I sometimes find it hard to reconcile is Tom Cruise - I think he's a weirdo dick in real life but love some of his movies...
