SEQ is supposed to be spared from the heatwave, predicted to impact upon the rest of the continent.

It has dropped to 29 overnight, supposed to reach 45 today and tomorrow, a little cooler at 44 on Friday, and down to 42 on Saturday, before dropping to normal summer temperatures of mid thirties on Sunday, and then creeping up again.

John, interested to know what your humidity is. Daytime here is averaging around 50% while nights are around 80% +, which is getting a bit sticky.

My sister and her family are on a station in the Woomera Ranges. Yesterday arvo she sent me a photo of a thermometer reading 48 in the shade! Nasty.

At the moment it is 41.7 on the front veranda, 34 on the back, and humidity is 28% according to my machine, but I don't know how accurate that is. In Dubbo at the moment it is 34.8 and 24%. By the time the temperature reaches the peak forecast of 45 at 4pm, I expect the humidity will be down to around 15%.

36.7 on the back verandah here in Yass at 21:30. It's been nice and warm today.

Almost 11pm here (Mildura) and it's still 35.6
Yesterday's official temp was 45.8 and today is was over 45.
I took a few readings around the yard with my infrared thermometer and there were temps over 60C showing up.
The highest it read was 67.5 when I pointed it at hard bare patch of soil in front of my shed.
On the days during these recent heatwaves when we have had either a North or North Westerly wind, the air is like a
furnace, and seems like it is almost inflammable.

I am looking forward to Autumn and Winter.

    Cheers, Mick.

A sobering thought. Even winter could be bush fire season, with the country dried out.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Yeah, as a soft city type I sympathise with those in much hotter conditions, particularly at night.
