Are there any Double Decker Buses operating in OZ? None that I am aware of, but Adelaide had a an Electric Trolley Bus Feet in days of yore & very good they were too. Some Single deck & I think mostly Double Deckers.

    Lovely & quiet as well.
There's a tourist one getting around Byron, Des.
    Or there was, pre Covid.

I love maps, always have a bunch of topos jammed in the pockets in the car above my head of where I'm going.
Gives me comfort knowing I have several folded pieces of paper with lines printed on them.

Magnetic variation is what you need to know to either adjust your compass bezel or adjust your track to magnetic north.

Magnetic declination is the angle between true north and Magnetic north.

Any decent map would (should) have a notation re: declination.
Another silly thing is using a compass whilst anywhere near metal. Even sighting down a barbed wire fence is fraught with danger. There's a few natural perils to be aware of too. Thers a mountain in SE Qld that has a variation of 12°

I'm no maths expert, but I assume the higher you are off the ground, the further you have to travel to rotate the Earth.

So many innocuous, metalic objects can affect the accuracy of a compass, from a vehicle to the metal in a bra.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Yes, I always use to make sure my Bra had no metal parts when I was flying. Not sure about the metalic ones though.

This is trivia and on compass Denham to top of Dirk Hartog Island WA several times on a fantastic fishing trip. I used the compass just once . The Island is about 80km North to South. I had a loverly run 80km north after missing by that margin. No Bra on but diving and fishing gear or a crappy compass made me look like a goose
