You did well if that fixed it,some used the heater safety klixon, in the evaporator,to power the defrost timer,during the cooling cycle.

Thanks Paul. Spent a bit of time on the net getting my head around the whole thing and looking at the parts diagrams to confirm this.

I could tell in the end that it was the timer, and not one of the two failsafe fuses related to the heater element, or the element itself, just by manually manipulating the timer and seeing and hearing what happened.

Timer assembled in Mex was $35 ish compared with $150 ish for supposed genuine, which F&P don't make anyway.

Coincidentally......... fixed a 1000kg vertical cable hoist 2 days ago, 30min to figure it out and look at parts diagrams and 30 min to bend the bent switch rod bits back into shape and shorten the spring on each and adjust. Apparently a throwaway item at $300 these days. Dunno what I'll do with it.

The other thing that got me looking at the timer in the first place was coz it had the most moving parts.

The doors are distorted due people opening them from the top corners. New seals wouldn't fix this so each door has an over centre latch on it on the top corner. Yeah I know.........
so the fridge is kept in a locked shed.

Best thing is it works like new.

The freezer fan was replaced 2 weeks out of warranty way back when. The fridgie who did it said the original had a design fault. F&P would not come to the party.

I did have a chat with F&P at the time and their response was 'less than satisfactory', and I politely informed them that I wouldn't be recommending their products to anyone on my mega contact list.

Just onto our Insurer to question the heavy increase in our 2022 premium. They don't seem to give a **** either.


They seem to just send you the bills & expect you to pay them regardless.

Oddly, I have only heard good things about them. Maybe they had a knock back that a.m.? It happens.
