Wow, now cartoonists have to man'splain. His reply to all the hate will really trigger the inner urban leftys.

The times we are in. Female supremacist believers are showing their hate for anything remotely heretical, even cartoons. It is a religious order. Some are fighting back. I saw in a library book, scrawled in biro across the first page of Hillary Clinton's "What Happened? -- "Feminism has become a sacred cow."

I give you an example of modern satirical writing. Andy Borowitz is the satirical writer for the New Yorker. Just to bring you up to speed Donald Trump was exempted from service in the military, and therefore service in Vietnam, by his podiatrist . Not just once, he opted out of conscription five times. The New Yorker may be peeved because both Donald and Melanie have shifted their citizenship from New York, to Florida, which has a more lenient tax system. [ preparing for retirement ?]

Now we've had satirical drawings, and cartoons. I guess most of us have heard satirical songs. One of the very best was A fortunate son, by John Fogarty. Here we have Fogarty explaining why he wrote it. Purely to demonstrate the issues that inspire ordinary people to protest, and choose to protest with the pen, not the sword.

Anyone remember the confected outrage that surrounded the great Bill Leak a couple of years ago. He had to explain himself in court. For penning an opinion that a heck of a lot of people agreed with.

Society is increasingly becoming a tide of lemmings, and it ain't a pretty sight.

BTW, I for one can't stand Leunig, but I respect his talent and his right to expression. I said, somewhere else on this forum,

you cannot give offence, you can only take it. It's better to choose not to.

too right .. and onto the bandwagon they must go, lest they miss out!

I'm personally neither here nor there on the topic of feminism, just what makes sense .. respect others as you'd want them to reciprocate .. etc, etc .. yada yada.

Recently been looking at thunderfoot on Ytube, he does some great busted vids. Got onto him via a 'busted' video on some stupidly marketed 'vacuum' (clothes)dryer where they claim using the benefits of vacuum, just like in space! .. to dry clothes in seconds.
He went on why it was such a ludicrous notion and product .. good site, great info .. so subscribed.

Then I looked back on his historical stuff, and found he's made about a feminist youtuber named Anita Sarkeesian .. and the garbage .. err I mean videos she created.
He doesn't come across as anti feminism. He may well be, but never displays such a trait, ever.
He comes across as a bit left leaning and liberal thinking .. but all he does is to debunk her videos, describing in one way or another why she's full of it.
Inevitably, she(feminist) milked her adoring community/follower base for more than US1.5mil! in only 5 years(or less) .. and provided basically zero real content.
His beef with her isn't the topic she creates content about, but always on what she does for the $s she's amassed ... and mainly about her research about the topics she waffles on about.

Very funny to watch, and in particular the culmination of it all earlier this year.

As for the cartoon in question, which I only viewed via this thread .. I thought it was both funny and apt .. and very likely either has already happened somewhere in the world, or will.

About a month ago, I was driving through the Perth city centre and had something similar almost happen in front of me. I had to lock the brakes up on my D1 as a bloke was looking down at his phone while pushing a pram and walked straight onto the road without looking. If I hadn’t pre-empted what I thought he was going to do by taking my foot off the accelerator and hovering my foot over the brake pedal, the pram and child would have been totalled and I would never have forgiven myself. As it was, I stopped just before them missing them by about a foot. I had a whole heap of abuse hurled at me by him and got the one fingered salute for my efforts. Silly bugger!

I’m always partial to a good Gary Larson cartoon, although in this day and age, I’m sure someone would be offended by his commentary.

Forgive him my son, for he was concerned about how he would explain the kid looking as flat as a strip of bacon to his 'er indoors meaning she'd have to get some new clothes for the kid as his/hers wouldn't fit anymore. Couldn't possibly take the blame & tell her he murdered the kid whilst speaking to his anonymous Mistress about a forthcoming assignation. Of course he would have been a tad uptight. I would.

    Not on!
