Thank you National Australia Bank for **** all

So the man (said in the loosest of terms) is talking to the teller and he just had that real I'm a total git vibe about him. White short too many sizes too small to be wearing in front of other men or in public, matched with the tight shirt, cap and some form of crap designer runners. I'd mention he had some pommy git accent to match his crap dress sense but some of you might get all precious.

Anyway, he was talking loud enough so everyone in the bank could hear his oh so important conversion and obvious dissatisfaction "well thats no bloody good now is it, oh thank you very much for that, its a business card, what good is it if it aint here for me to collect" soooo on and so fourth this went one. He turns around to share his convo and says to me "pretty useless arent they" My thought screaming in my head was WHY THE **** ARE YOU TALKING TO ME ARSEHOLE but I said "I dunno mate, but having a temper tantrum isnt going to make your card magically appear is it?"

When the lovely lady teller served me, I did tell her how lovely she looked today and thanked her for her time and to enjoy the day.

Nice. She could have been thinking "Another smooth talking bastard trying to get into my pants. I must use this hair Style some more"

Banks! You are very lucky to have a bank near you. All banks seem to be shutting them down here. They introduce & promote On Line Banking & when it becomes too Popular they shut the branches down to save on Rent, Wages & other costs & sell the Real Estate.
Every 2nd shopfront is either a Bank or a Real Estate Office & small Traders have no longer got a foot in the door.

    BASTARDS!
I am always exceptionally polite and nice to people that serve me, especially Gov. Dept.

Yes thats another good point, when I am asked as I stand in line by a staff member if I would like to use the deposit draw thing they have or that I can deposit using the atm. I always decline saying if I use that or the atm outside eventually they will close this branch and you will be out of a job. Hence why they only have 2 tellers on at anytime, we all know its a ploy by banks to keep closing branches while taking our money.

Another thing that ****s me, if you withdraw over a set amount, I thinks its more than 10K according to Gov regulations, as in the ATO, you have to supply a reason as to why. I always say "I'm putting it under my mattress as I believe its safer than in the bank"

    Banks **** me
    Regards
    Daz

It is funny you should say that about staff reductions.. Well maybe not so funny.

'er indoors told the Checkout Chix that stuff when they all went to "Self Service Checkouts" I recall, "Thin edge of the wedge" came into the conversation & "couldn't they see what was the future?"

There is only ever one woman assisting in that section in WW & Coles so maybe it has already started? If it hasn't it will when this Covid crap dies down.

BTW, the reason we were using the Bank Supplied ATM was that they got shot of the staff first, well CBA did, so it was relocated to the front window of the local Pharmacy. At least we still do have one as there are no Banks here now to hold up.
So slim pickings if one is into Bank Holdups that is.

That one ain't the bank's fault. It was decided maybe 15 years ago that anyone who had or needed >$10K were drug dealers or tax cheats. But they haven't changed it since. Another flash in the pan politician's idea. $10K these days is nothing to OC.

Not here. They are friendly, helpful, patient, and above all cheap. They are employing, not laying off. I know most of them by first name. Coles and Woolies could learn a lot from them. I never shop at either of those two now. Well, beer from Murphy's I guess.

The thing I don't like about all of them is that Aldi rips off other brands and just barely gets away with it. Coles are generally overpriced I think. Coles and Woolworth both progressively have pushed local and known brands lower and lower on the shelves until they basically just copy the product exactly and call it their own brand. I can't get so many products that I used to buy. It's all the shop brand now. I would always go out of my way to not buy the shop brand and go to a real cashier but it's almost impossible now

They don't "rip off" anything. One thing I learnt from driving supply chain logistics is that most stuff on supermarket shelves comes from a few suppliers, only the labels are different. The biggest point of difference between Aldi and the American mobs is marketing. Aldi doesn't do it, and the labels they sell don't do it either. Every product on the shelves at the Americans is marketed, from laundry soap to baked beans, and all of that costs, putting prices up and up.

Oh, you will not see a "self checkout" register at Aldi.

Aldi ain't perfect, but it's high time the American supermarket model got challenged. I hope more companies do it.

Years ago I was working in employment services when the local supermarkets here in Moe started to introduce self serve checkouts (which I steadfastly refuse to use) and I was talking to one of the store managers and asked him what the savings were expected to be and he said that they would probably need more people. To say I was skeptical is an understatement. Fast forward a few years and when I was talking to him again and asked about the success of the self serve idea and got a spiel about how the three biggest expenses in supermarkets are loss, shrinkage and wages. Funnily enough wages have gone down but loss is WAY up - almost to the extent that the wages savings have been eaten been eaten by loss and loss prevention. Employee numbers, of course, are down.
