I still believe there's quite a few Aussies who do not comprehend what this is all about,...wanna dispute that?...then why the Bondi Beach situation?
    Pickles.

And when the Cops & Lifies moved them off the actual beach where did they go? All grouped tightly together in the Car Park/pedestrian walk above & still boozing on is where. Stupid Fools!

Never saw any further footage, so no idea if they stuck together still or ****ed off back home.

    ABC News

"Since the government announced its first stimulus package just over a week ago, the global and the domestic economic environment has deteriorated. We now expect the economic shock to be deeper, wider and longer."
    Key points:

    • Jobseeker allowance has been doubled, will be called the coronavirus suppliment
    • The government will waive the asset test and waiting period for the jobseeker allowance
    • The supplement will provide an additional $550 a fortnight on top of the existing jobseeker or new start payment and will be available to sole traders and casual workers who meet the income test.
    • Anyone eligible for the maximum jobseeker payment will now receive more than $1100 a fortnight.
    • From July 13, a further $750 payment will be made to those on income support that are not eligible for the coronavirus supplement.
    • Covers 5.2 million Australians, including those receiving the age pension, a carers allowance, family tax benefit and the Commonwealth senior card
    • Government to reduce deeming rates by a further quarter of a percent to reflect the recent Reserve Bank interest rate cut.
    • From April, those affected will gain access to superannuation, tax-free, capped at $10,000 this financial year and a further $10,000 next financial year
    • Sole traders or casual workers who have seen income or hours reduced by 20 per cent or more as a result of the coronavirus will be able to get early axis to your superannuation. Applications will be made online.
    • All employing businesses will receive at least $20,000, all employing small businesses will receive at least $20,000 and some of the larger SMEs will receive up to $100,000.
    • Around 30,000 not-for-profit organisations which have an annual turnover of less than $50 million will also benefit
    • Government is guaranteeing in a 50-50 partnership with the banks and other lenders to provide more lending to Australia's small and medium-sized businesses. $40 billion scheme will start in early April will provide loans of up to $250,000 for up to three years for a business with a turnover of less than $50 million. No repayments will be required for the first six months.
    • The government is proposing to increase the threshold at which a creditor can take action to initiate insolvency or bankruptcy from as low as $2000 today to $20,000 and giving companies and individuals six months instead of 21 days to respond.
Doesn't look bad,as with the first one,but the question is,where is all the money coming from?
For the next twelve months, maybe longer, there won't be too much money coming in.

I had a comment rejected by the Australian this morning asking what proportion of the people at Bondi were actually tourists and backpackers.

It seemed to me that everyone interviewed were foreign, although one bloke who refused to move was an Aussie.

However the rest of the comments wore a hair shirt and mea culpad about how terrible Australians are.

I just took some food to a friend who arrived back from Bali today. Has a sign on the gate not to come in so is taking it seriously.

I got a fantastic download from one of the infectious disease specialists at the hospital on Friday (I get updates once a week as to the preparedness of the State, Hospital, Staff, Ward and potential effects on an immuno-compromised child), and I'd love to use that information to correct some of the obvious misinformation in this and other threads, but if I do it, it's second hand information by the time I put it on the page and third hand by the time you read it.

Add into that mis-interpretation / communication because I'm not the expert, compounded by interpretation at the readers end and the inevitable chinese whispers, out of context cut and paste and general twisting of out of context quotes, and suddenly the cure looks worse than the disease.

Having said that, with the background I've collected over the last month and the specific information I received on Friday, I could probably make myself sound important/informed and might even have that smug factor believing I was performing a community service, but in reality I'd probably be at the same level as any other Muppet who cuts and pastes "facts" without any background or checking. So I won't.

If people acknowledged they were not the experts, and ceased passing on half-baked information that is either obviously wrong, cleverly written to appear plausible, genuinely written by uninformed people or badly communicated fifth hand information from genuine experts there'd be a lot less fluff and more relevant and factual information. That doesn't sell papers or make people feel important though.

Actually, it's not unlike mechanical advice on AULRO. "My rear wheel has a squeak when I turn right with the suspension lowered" :
    • "Have you tried cleaning the MAP sensor?"
    • "You need to do a hard reset"
    • "Mine did that and it turned out to be a mouse in the glove box"
    • "My mate had a car that squeaked once. It was a Ford. Don't buy Fords, they are **** because they squeak".
    • "Your mate was a muppet, Fords rule ok!"
    • "Dyslexia rules KO"
    • "Listen muppet, if you don't have any advice about the squeak, get out of my thread".
    • "If it only squeaks with the suspension lowered, don't lower it".
    • "My wife has the Corona virus and she squeaks when she breathes".
    • "Tell her to stop breathing".
    • "Does she squeak when her suspension is lowered"
    • "Ok you can stop now. the squeak was a loose wheel nut"
    • "I bet your mechanic used a rattle gun and not a torque wrench"

    and so it goes .....

    Rant over.

I prefaced the post with I couldn't guarantee it, and it did come from a thread which has been put up as full of the right advice…….but it is a forum, each can make up his own mind, perhaps you should read some of the posts I have made from genuine medical professionals, before posting . Anything I have posted here has been posted with the best intentions, with information that I thought could be important. Others on the forum can make up their own minds if they want to take it onboard or not. I don't get a kick out of belittling people, some seem to delight in it. As with most other members here , I'm not a doctor, and don't try to present as one. One thing I do is try to keep it positive, and I will continue to do so.

Exactly, "Don't give a stuff about themselves or anybody else",....these are the "type" of people who going to make very difficult for the "flattening of the curve"......And the sad thing is, that at the moment, we are letting them get away with it.

Apparently (according to the ABC) some of the 100 new cases overnight in NSW are backpackers in Bondi who attended a couple of parties last week!

Seen this sort of stuff all over the media, I just cannot understand how people can be so irresponsible, if not for other people's well being, but their own.
I mean ya see this sort of stuff on the media, so how many other instances are there where this is happening that we don't see,..the mind boggles, with, yes with fear, but also with anger.

I think it is just another manifestation of "it can't happen to me" that, for example, means that a significant proportion of road deaths were not wearing a seat belt.

Printing press. (Actually, they will probably issue bonds which the Reserve Bank will purchase with money conjured out of thin air (book keeping money), but it amounts to the same thing. At some time in the future, the Reserve Bank may be able to sell them.)
