If you're feeling a bit miffed about present circumstances, how would you have gone during this 11 months?

I’m on the COVID-19 control lead team here and whilst we are taking it very seriously, those with it generally just need some rest. Several don’t even know they had it. One contractor has had it twice now.

In that context, you have mild chance of contracting it, and even less chance that it does significant or terminal damage.

    By comparison:

140,000 people died from measles in 2019

Influenza - a highly infectious disease that usually strikes during the winter season. Globally, it causes an estimated one billion cases of influenza, resulting in 290,000 to 650,000 deaths per year. A person can get the virus simply by being near an infected person that coughs, sneezes or talks, or by touching something with the virus on it.

    Tuberculosis killed 1.3 million

Be safe, play it smart. You’ll be around to be old and Grumpy like 4BEE Corona Virus

Oi I ****ing heard that. Don't knock the Grumpies there are heaps of us & we might just come a knocking on your door.

Your indoors would probably tell us "You can have 'im, he's always been a grumpy bastard as long as I've known him".

Morning Mr Tombs, weather nice up there?

I don't think we're all in that much deep doodoos if we do the right thing. I'm thinking that I'd rather be where I am in isolation in 2020 than sitting in a shelter somewhere in London in 1940-41.
Hello, Yes, I am a realist, so yes, I suppose I do look at what "could" happen if we do not get infections under control, but look,"irrational"?, who know you could be right, actually I hope you are!
"Shelter in London"?..Mum & Dad went through the blitz in Manchester. Dad was an air raid warden & Mum was in the Red Cross. Mum told the story of how she cooked a loaf of bread which was so hard that Dad took it down into the shelter saying "Look what my wife's cooked"!!...Mum said they actually used it as door stop! I don't remember the blitz, but I do remember the "rationing" after the war.
    Regards, Pickles.

Because the figure for Covid19 is above two, drop it by 0.3 and its hard to see the difference.

Remember though that a major influence on R0 is vaccination rates, and there is no vaccine for covid19.

Measles is an interesting one - it has the highest R0 of any dangerous disease - over 20 with no vaccination or herd immunity, which is why very high vaccination rates are needed to stop it spreading.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
