US daily cases are starting to rise, last three days 20,000, 22,000, 28,000 (rounded, and from Worldometer), expect deaths to rise in proportion in a couple of weeks. UK cases seem fairly steady on around 1800, although yesterday is still only about 1600, but there is another hour to go.

Coronavirus updates, evidence the geography of the outbreak in the US is shifting.

Qld is similar, or better, over the last month or so.

Which is another reason the chances of a 'second wave' of infections,in Australia, is minimal.

Some seem to forget the first 'wave' was mostly the result of overseas travellers, and people with close contact to those overseas travellers.

Keeping the borders closed is only causing a lot of hardship for many.Hopefully they open sooner than later.

Agreed Paul, but let us give it another week or two to make damnably sure.

Protests are also planned in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. I believe SA has given approval, not sure about the others. A protest was held in Canberra today, with a police presence.

The court's decision means the Sydney organisers have no legal protection, so they can't make arrangements with police to make the protests safer.

Last weekend 3000 people received police approval to protest against 5G/lockdown/vaccinations, and Morrison said it was 'their right to protest', but now it's not okay to protest against racism. Interesting priorities there, don't you think?

An outdoor protest should be safer than being indoors in a club, pub or footy corporate box. We'll soon know how many football fans, and people in pubs, get infected by the reopening of venues.

Then we'll know if other states and territories are willing to reopen their borders to NSW and Victoria.

To be fair, it was when 40,000 people indicated interest in the Sydney event that the authorities got alarmed.

Re Morrison, he did say in relation to todays protests:

“So we respect people’s right to protest, but equally protesters have to respect all other Australians in how they conduct themselves,” he said.

But yes, the rest of what he said was not entirely on board ...

“And at the same time, you know, we shouldn’t be importing the things that are happening overseas to Australia.
“I’m not saying we don’t have issues in this space that we need to deal with but the thing is we are dealing with it. And we don’t need to draw equivalence here.
“We should be Australians about this and deal with it our way, and we are.”

“Whether it’s this protest or other protests, I think all Australians are OK with there being protests, but when they see people inconvenience others just trying to get to work or do things like that, well, they obviously get the irrits. And I think it’s important that everyone respects everyone.”

Infections seem to rising in some parts of the USA, the UK's R rate is indicating a possible second wave in some areas, and Brazil is a complete disaster and about to overtake the UK in deaths.

Here's whst seems an excellent, very balanced, article canvassing the options on what might happen.

Many are also very concerned about countries in Africa.

Yes, Africa could be a worry.

Here's a perfect example of why certain politicians were grossly irresponsible in calling for an early opening of the borders.

Huge crowd at the Brisbane Black Lives Matter protest right now.
In Queensland the police hand out masks to protesters. In NSW the cops threaten to arrest them.
