And it's not confusing .. you're getting confused.

Do you work in the building trade? are you working? You can't go there ... unless it's essential.
    How is that confusing?

Bunnings ... not essential to you(unless your a tradie, ie. working)
Supermarket .. essential, you can go there between certain hours .. etc, blah blah.

I don't like it ... but I'm not going to claim it's confusing just because I don't like it.

So for starters it doesnt worry me because i dont live in Victoria. My post was trying to point out that the messaging around the restrictions was often conflicting and not clear. It is permissable to do a click and collect at Bunnings so why would you be able to do that if visiting Bunnings was considered non - essential. The point has been made above that bunnings do stock items that could be considered essential so that now makes some sense.

I made the point that non essential retail is still considered alive and well .. just that they want it done remotely simply to minimise the large numbers of potential contact.
If people are limited as to where you can contract the virus, it makes it a lot easier for the authorities to chase it up.

If Joe Bloe goes out on his normal shopping spree, he gets fruit and veg, meat dairy .. etc. at the supermarket. then on to Bunnings , then onto Supercheap, etc.. and he gets the virus .. where did he get it.
If Jane Doe goes to the same supermarket, but is a vegetarian(ie. doesn't get meat!) then goes to supercheap to get her service items, and then Bunnings to get herself a rattle gun .. etc. and she doesn't get it.

Does that mean it came from the meat dept at the supermarket? that woudl be the obvious answer .. her only variation to Joe. But Joe could easily have contracted it from Bunnings, in the plumbing dept, where Jane didn't go(she only went in to get the rattle gun from the toolshop) ... etc.

All this to-ing and fro-ing will make it harder to track the 'unknown' .. huge numbers of unknowns! here in Vic. Premier has stated that in press conferences.

I can't understand why simple(and already articulated) notion a complicated social issue is hard to understand. This is to make it easier for the relevant people to keep a track of.
And already said, if in doubt .. just DON'T!
We're not stupid people. We full well know the difference between essential life operations and non essential.

    WD40 = non essential
    Food = essential
grog .. actually in this social climate .. essential. Why. If people are forced to stay indoors, and they like a drink or two, it can help with their state of mind.
I personally don't drink so for me non essential .. I don't need bottle'o's to be open. Has no effect on my state of mind, but for some/many it may .. appease them.

I'd say if the unknown factor wasn't so high in Vic, we wouldn't be in this current state of disaster. Level 3 would have sufficed if they could track the contact points more easily.
I'm hoping that those folks that have contracted the virus and haven't lied about the points of contact they could have had. That sad side of this comment is that is most likely what's happened, as was referred too before people have this inbuilt sense to survive, and if that means lie about important stuff.. they almost certainly will.

Build a wall. The Mexicans are coming , mass migration imminent!

Jokes aside, I will be considering a move interstate. Legally of course.

It will be interesting to see how the other states handle their flare ups - when this virus kicks off over there. It might not take much - 400 cases in a day = curfew?

The world now knows why we call Victoria the Nanny state!

Another 6 weeks of hardly living. I have primed myself, and will be doing my bit. But if they add on another 6 after this, at stage 4 or worse 5....... Civil unrest is almost guaranteed.

Trade sales are allowed to continue because construction is continuing, with limits on the number of workers on sites.
Click and collect and drive through is much safer than shopping in-store.
BTW here's a health tip I read and am practicing about shop displays. Don't touch the front row of items, because people pick them up and put them back. Choose items from the back row.
Andrews has just announced a new $5000 fine, in addition to the $200 and $1652 fines, while if it goes to court the max is $20,000.

We can only speculate at this stage if it was a result of rushing home before they weren't allowed to do so.

So another 3 clowns in Logan look to have falsified their border passes.

They were only caught because one of them got sick, and squealed.
No need not to throw the book at this lot as well.
    Huge fines at least,hopefully

In all fairness Clive palmer has been called "Enemy of the State" and he isn't African, Regardless of peoples race color or creed ANYONE who is breaking the COV19 rules and are dodging the border controls ARE the enemy of the State if not the enemy of Australia.
It really ****es me of when people that have been caught doing the wrong thing play the "Race Card" in an effort to lessen the severity/stupidity of what they have done.
Throw the book at the LOT of the Bastards IMHO.

It's not about that. Trial by media is not the way. There was no need for names and photos to be splashed in the media in this case. Just report the event, and let the courts deal with it.

So many people have been caught and not made the news. Whether it was race related or not - those black girls were hit hard by the media.
