Corona Virus

Over here we have 5 levels of measures to deal with the Covid. Level 1 is the one closest to normal while level 5 has the most severe measures. As of midnight tonight where I live (County Donegal) will be at level 3. The way things are going, and they are going the wrong way at a horrific level, we will be at Level 4 in a short time. It is down to people not taking it seriously. The lockdown level is actually immaterial to my wife and myself as we are self cocooning as much as possible. If the Covid gets into our house and either my wife or myself contract it it would have catastrophic consequences for our daughter. We find that the only ones taking this seriously are those with a vulnerable family member. The wife shops once a week and I strip and wash after work. Surely people can do the simple things and that would go a long way to helping to keep infection rates down. The Covid is bad, stupidity is bad but when you have to deal with the two simultaneously...... We even have people protesting because they have to wear masks.

Hi Spud, you'll have noticed that selfishness & inconsideration have been frequent concerns on here. One does what one has to do in the way of Hygiene & Distancing & keep the legs crossed.

Maybe the only ones left alive at the end of the day will all be own Land Rover owners. Wouldn't that be ironic?

Reminds me, 'er indoors read out a news item tonight that found Land Rovers & Tesla are the world's most unreliable vehicles.

Looking forward to the day when I can log on here and get bogged down in how to solve leaks and rattles. At the end of this journey, which will be a long one, there will be people who will say "That was not so bad, I just had a bad 'flu". But there will be families who will have to live with the thoughts of a loved one who died alone and in great distress.
Funnily enough if you ever met any one suffering from a 'flu they will tell you how bad it is and how miserable they feel. If only the Covid was as benign as that.

Some "Common Colds" can make one feel so bloody crook that one wishes one could gladly kick one's bucket.

Fortunately, living on top of a mountain, we don't seem to get those or any other as much as we did when down in the "smoke". I'm pushing my luck here ain't I?

At the mo we are in more danger of growing Web feet & freezing my nuts off. Get this. We 'nearly' had Snow today.

No Really. Instead we got buckets of rain. Again.[bighmmm]

Tesco has become the latest supermarket to reintroduce rationing of toilet rolls to prevent panic-buying as UK coronavirus cases hit another record high.
The NHS Test and Trace app showed that not one single local area in England can currently be considered “low risk” for infection amid a second wave of deaths is on the way.
London has been added to the government’s official “watch list” and Leeds residents were told they faced a local lockdown - including a ban on households mixing - from midnight. The two biggest cities in Wales, Cardiff and Swansea, will be placed under restrictions from 6pm on Sunday.

Yes I saw that it was forecast. Things here have changed when the M1 Freeway went in years back, Apparently the black bitumen strip heats up & affects the air temp. Vehicle heat is another reason & it all adds to the mix.


Being in a valley it acts like a funnel for the warm air. Well that is the current theory.

But the noise level from the Freeway has dropped, so today it is barely discernible so I guess you can't have it both ways.


I have, what looks like post WW2, a photo of this house, gardens & valley after a snowfall, quite impressive.
When Mount Lofty had snow, crowds would come up by the "millions" & have snowball fights. Now a long time since that happened but back then people had not travelled to far flung places that had snow so it was a bit of a novelty.

Hard to believe snow at this of year. Qld is 2 months into the fire season. We just spent a week at the beach and got a nice tan. This time last year we were camped at Lorn Hill Gorge in a 40 degree drought. Snow just seems all wrong this time of year.
