China has been running this crap fest from day 1. They don't need bullets they just get the western media to go loopey and watch the pack of cards fall over. I wonder what will happen if they let out the Bogan Virus. The flanny shirt and thong industry will topple

Good to see they are refunding ferry fares in full.
But i feel sorry for all the businesses that rely on tourists.

Out to the property doing some shooting for a few weeks looks like the go
Nice and relaxing,no phone to carry around,no TV,bit of work to do,but thats fine.

    Self isolation at its best
You can still come to Tassie, you just have to demonstrate you are going to park yourself somewhere for 2 weeks.
So book into a caravan park, produce proof of your booking and you're away.
We're in the Leisure Villa Caravan Park in Wynyard, which is very nice. Tomorrow we're heading off down the inland towards Strahan.
Or we might just go to a national park and pay $50 to stay there for a week, away from everyone.
There are no reported virus cases in NW Tassie, that I know of. So it's one of the safest places to be.
I went into Services Tasmania in Wynyard today and the woman said she was not aware, as of today, of any plans to stop the Spirit of Tasmania, which is being treated like public transport. So at this stage our April 26 booking to Melbourne should stand. But it's an ever-changing scene.
I also noticed plenty of good value houses for sale.
I met two people, one from Bribie Island and one from WA, who sold up and moved down here for the cooler climate, quieter lifestyle and cheaper housing.
But I doubt if our kids would be impressed if we moved so far away.

Thanks,Mick, but the thought of staying in one place for two weeks isn't a great incentive.Particularly when we only have 3 to 4 weeks anyway.
And risking a huge fine, something like $16K,or a jail term isn't that enticing.

Anyway, hopefully if the virus doesn't get me,we will go when things calm down, maybe even later this year when it warms up a bit.
The hardest bit is getting a place on the ferry with the rack on,seems the higher spots are very limited, probably taken up by permanent bookings for trucks or whatever. We tried to get down there this time last year, but no luck with a spot on the ferry for return. They said all the grey nomads leave at that time of year to get away from the cold.

Simple maths now. Current Aussie population is a trickle over 25 million so we are looking at approx 750,000 deaths as it stands now based on EXPERTS not me!!

We typically get around 1100 motor vehicle related deaths a year.
So the place where it supposedly started , with a population of over 1 billion people , now say they are on top of it. they had what 8000 or so reported deaths, and they are now starting to get back to normal life, and we are somehow going to get 750,000 deaths. Those dont add up to me.

I seen when i was in china , high speed rail stations that moved over 30,000 people and hour , their transport network makes us look 3rd world , and we are somehow meant to believe that they contained it , even after the Dr who tried to warn the authorities whom aparently didnt listen for several weeks before they acted.

Simple maths seem very complicated when you try and work out how we can somehow expect 3% and they are what .1% or even less.

No being arguementive , just dont believe the hype , but sadly alot of people are going to suffer a great deal whilst we wait and see.

Yes - I moved early into my Cash Management Fund but then there was a dead car bounce and I thought things were basically over and moved back into my main funds then the oil dispute happened and then Trumpy scared the market so I got burnt over that week - thought I would ride it out but had enough last week and moved back into the Cash Fund - so a lot better than if I had done nothing but still down big $$$

I hope the mainland is also banning two headed Tasmanians from coming over to Australia and giving us Caronovirus.

It's time to get the rabbit traps out or run over some deer.

We tried to get some alcohol wipes as I need them for valve changes and skin swabs. Nah, no stock any where.
I rang Jaycar, they only had some spray Iso left.

Now they say that gangs of black market dealers are the ones stripping all stock of stuff to resell. mini buses going out into country towns buying up , police in all states are on the hunt for them. Seems Chinese caused this and now Australian chinese are profiteering on others miseries, It's disgusting
Be very careful about repeating wild rumours. I'm not criticising Mario or anyone here, I'm just urging everyone to be careful what they accept and repeat.

A guy bailed me up at church on Sunday spouting various wild conspiracy rumours about the Chinese which I know to be complete rubbish.
There are people with political and racist prejudices deliberately circulating false rumours to try to stir up trouble and make scapegoats.
Remember that the Chinese have suffered more than any other nationality from this crisis - their losses have been enormous. To then blame them is very unjust and unAustralian, I think.
I recommend everyone reject and refuse to repeat nasty rumours.
We, the whole of the human race, are all in this together and now is a time for unity, not finger-pointing, I believe.
I hope the mods will clamp down on posts designed to make trouble.

BTW I believe the Chinese fatality rate was 1%, not 3%, but happy to be corrected.

We have mainly commercial property,so as long as the tenants keep paying, all Ok.
No loans any more either,so if the worse happens, the sharks won't be at the door.

But i agree the sharemarket is a major issue for many.
And i feel sorry for the retires, with interest rates at the lowest on record, now this.
