Wish I was. Been making or remaking bookings for Doctors to phone or video consultations all day today . Set up drive through Flu Vaccinations. Pull up in your car. ring. Wind your window down and SURPRISE

All trying to keep people out of my place. Only one decided he must come in to complain. Everyone else seemed very pleased. The test Video calls were a lark.

Whats essential American list my be what we see with a few differences. A lot of Allied health types are oddly unhappy not being essential.

Have a very nice Scotch now I have escaped from work to consider your questions - Cheers All

As long as you don't increase the risk of the spread. Cheers

    ABC News

"Since the government announced its first stimulus package just over a week ago, the global and the domestic economic environment has deteriorated. We now expect the economic shock to be deeper, wider and longer."
    Key points:

    • Jobseeker allowance has been doubled, will be called the coronavirus suppliment
    • The supplement will provide an additional $550 a fortnight on top of the existing jobseeker or new start payment and will be available to sole traders and casual workers who meet the income test.

    umm, why?

the people on these benefits are not going to loose out by not going to jobs they dont have..

waiving the requirement to be actively job seeking I can swallow but to pay them more to do the same nothing they're already doing....

Do NOT mess with these tough people.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

    Is Bunnings an essential service?

Looks like I could be on an open ended forced holiday from tomorrow so will need to pass the time somehow. At least I’ll be one of the lucky ones that I can see in all of this. I have plenty of leave saved up (for a 6 week trip in August that’s toast now) and heaps of sick leave and have a large buffer on my Mortgage. Still going to hurt, but hopefully can minimise it.

Looks like all those little jobs around the house will get gone at last, got to be able to see the silver lining in all of this...

Stay safe everyone, hope those that find themselves out of work because of this get back to it quickly once this is over.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Suspect it’s to do with getting money back into economy straight away.
That demographic is unlikely to ‘waste’ the payment by reducing debt

I'm assuming we won't be able to come back from Tasmania as planned next month and will have to stay on the South Island for a while, but its hard to get firm information, so we'll wait a few days until the situation is clearer.
Even if the Spirit is still sailing as public transport I expect Victoria would put us straight into lockdown for 14 days.
The family keep telling us to stay down here because the mainland has gone crazy.
I can tell you we are meeting a lot of other travellers who are stranded.
What does ' no non-essential travel' mean for people who are on the road anyway?
Our neighbours have been on the road living in their caravan for 18 months and don't have a home address.
    Strange times indeed.
