Yeah. I know. I think this virus has made me put my game face on, hard to lighten up when every instinct is to fight. I'll see if I can find my sense of humour switch, can't help feeling I'm talking to Alf Garnett, though. Nothing wrong with that. EDIT. posted some of Alf in CA. left hand side of a Germans brain. Can't put it anywhere else. in jokes.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Interesting story this:

All you need to know about the rules on home confinement in Queensland
Here's what you need to know about Queensland's latest coronavirus home confinement rules - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
I got an email from RecfishWest asking me Not to go fishing during this time of worry So it will give me plenty of time to service the 30 odd fishing reels that I have sadly neglected for some time now.
Its Not all bad at least the fishing stocks will have a getter chance of improving

I used to give far too many the benefit of the doubt.
Its times like these you see a person's true nature come to the fore
So far I've been lucky and really only seen good behaviour, having said that I'm avoiding going to places like Bunnings.
One of the typists at work was trying to buy dunny roll a couple of weeks back, there was none but another shopper gave her their number and said they had a couple of rolls at home they could have. I gave a distressed woman a lift home the other day, she was clearly upset with the panic buying and lack of produce on the shelves. Had a great chat with her and it made a difference to her that not everyone was selfish.
Working in health we are constantly reminded to check on our fellow workers. Everyone is acting like everything is OK but there is a lot of stress and anxiety not far under the surface.

Edit: R0 is the infection rate of a disease. R0 of covid is stated in the media to be somewhere like R2-R3. That is one infected person usually infected up to three others. If we are all inside, this breaks that ability to infect and reduces the R0 rate. Not sure what the usual R0 of the flu is but I think I recall something along the lines of R2.

    How'd I do?
ah yes. vector used in a difference sense.

all communicable diseases should be less with these lockdown.

R1.3 is about what I've seen. But anything above one gives exponential growth - the closer to one, the slower it is. Flu is greatly affected by weather though, for reasons that are not clear - probably people are usually further apart when it is warmer, so the R1.3 drops to below one, and few cases are seen over summer, and they don't spread. Because the figure for Covid19 is above two, drop it by 0.3 and its hard to see the difference.

Remember though that a major influence on R0 is vaccination rates, and there is no vaccine for covid19.

Measles is an interesting one - it has the highest R0 of any dangerous disease - over 20 with no vaccination or herd immunity, which is why very high vaccination rates are needed to stop it spreading.
