My SIL (synthetic biologist) is involved in COVID-19 vaccine research in the University of Texas. For those that want a bit of read on one line of research going on over there - some PR from the lab he works in.

And for those that like big words, a link to the paper his lab has published about 1 month ago.

TLDR - They determined the structure of the new Covid-19 virus protein spike, how it changes it's shape on binding to lung cells to gain entry with the good news being it's probably about 10-20 times more effective at this than it's relative the SARS virus.

My wife is a Senior Workforce Development Manager with Queensland Primary Healthcare Network.

Her job is to educate, advise , manage and plan distribution of both knowledge and hardware to healthcare professionals in Queensland.

I asked her if there were any real (not clickbait etc) breakthroughs in Covid19 vaccination development.

Her answer....NO

Stop getting excited with media releases, they are there so you follow their advertising...get it?

She said if there was anything developing , they....the PHN network would know and would be gearing up for millions of vaccination kits .....and that isn't anywhere near happening at the moment.

Of course the ABC has a left leaning bias, it is ingrained in their culture and obvious by reading the titles of the ABC news page. Other publications such as the Sydney Morning herald have a right leaning bias as they know how their bread is buttered. interesting, I look at the SMH and The Age as being pretty centrist and pretty much aligns with the ABC and The Guardian not too far left from either.

I do find it fascinating how our internal biases skew how we see things, and I'm including me in that!

Why Corona is such a nasty disease and the stats lie. You can have zero symptoms but frosting of the lungs from Covi19 pneumonia. So you are one of the many with 'no symtpoms' but have lung problems and increasing I have seen articles refer to long term lung damage.

So for those that argue low mortality rate etc means the restrictions we have are an overreaction, this should be a warning that the need to limit it's spread is not all about death.

I see one protestor on the news last night in the US showing her hair roots and telling the reporter, in a whingy and entitled voice, that the ban should be lifted to allow her to get to the hair dresser. A particularly unhealthy looking middle aged lady. That country has some deep rooted problems.
