Another saying is

"There is no such thing as a free lunch"

My thinking is we were already in a sluggish economy, interest rates are flat, economic outlook looks grim. So this is the start of a largish economic flattening.

It wasn't a matter of if but a matter of when.

I hate to see it happen and a lot of business and people will suffer from a downturn, but its a large reset switch to put things back into a level playing field.

I hope I'm wrong.

You do realise don't you that the reason you appear to believe that is because the response has done the job it was intended to do.

In the same way that some people mistakenly believe that we don't need vaccines because very few people die from measles now and some people think the precautions for Y2K were unnecessary. It only seems that way because the precautions or preventative measures were both necessary and effective.

Those who understand how exponential growth works and who actually know something about epidemiology and people who understand the differences between this issue and other problems have always known that if their precautions were appropriate that a lot of people would label them an overreaction.

Yes, go in hard and have a real positive impact , you are impacting on their personal freedom, wait and see and have a negative impact, you are incompetent. I'm glad we had the right people in this country with the best advice, and the right people who actually listened to them. Good to see, after all our political argy bargy we can get it right when it matters. Gives me confidence for the future , but no doubt the political shenanigans will be back.

we could do a lot more to reduce the road toll (which kills more), but we dont. why not?

all im saying is the response to corona has been out of proportion to other deadly issues in our society.

I haven’t seen any stats, but suspect the coronavirus lockdowns will have contributed to a reduction in road traffic accidents and associated injuries and fatalities.

Has already started .Recently paid the council rates, the defender rego, and Ergon account. Received a letter from Ergon saying my details have changed and I am no longer eligible to receive the pensioner rebate I have been receiving for the last 6 years I emailed them and asked what has changed so I could check but they won't tell me. I suppose the others will be next
