The **** flows ever-faster downhill through the rake here at present.

Three things related to three different quarantine cases in the press here today.

First case relates to the two women who were released without being tested then supposedly drove to welllington on a single tank of gas without stopping anywhere. Turns out they got lost and started heading north from Auckland instead of south to wellington. The person who lent them the car had to go and get them sorted out and a hug was given. That person then went to the gym, and did a few other things over the weekend before the positive test came in from the two initial women. The car owners test is still pending. All are now in isolation and the list to trace grew. Porkies are not only found in paddocks. Red faces all through the health side that looks after the isolation and their leaders who have for days now been relying on false information and relaying that to the public (so they say).

Second case is hard case. The opposition party here has revealed a homeless guy apparently joined the queue of travelers being admitted to isolation in a five star hotel. He was not questioned at any point and apparently was allowed to join isolation for 2 weeks of five star accommodation courtesy of the govt and taxpayers - if true I got to admire the cheek of the guy. Kudos. Red faces in the isolation management is almost beetroot colored now.

Third situation coming to light happened many weeks ago now. Many weeks ago a woman arrived at the border and would not submit to managed isolation. For whatever reason she was imprisoned at Wiri prison with all due precautions taken for separation. She was released after two weeks isolation a day before her positive test came back. The authorities could not find her. She was eventually tracked down to the city I live in... this happened weeks ago and we are just now hearing about it. Red faces must be steaming by now.

I hope that Assistant Chief of Defence now in charge kicks some arse seriously concussion-level of hard.
This is just getting to dangerous levels of stupid.

I think it takes some time for the level of contagion to become understood by the people on the ground. NSW had that with the Ruby Princess and that led to a number of process reforms here. I've got to admire the homeless guy though. Free bed and food for a couple of weeks

The contageous period while asymptomatic and possibly only slight symptoms when you do get them is what catches people out, particularly in a world where we are conditioned to "harden up and keep working". The "man flu" being another representation of this cultural norm. Unfortunately if you have coronavirus the damage is very quickly spread.

    As well I hope, Apoplexy.

I don't think Basil Fawlty could write such a Script.

But like most of these ****ups that happen, it will eventually find it's way under a carpet & painted white with whitewash.

Thing is, both our countries have learnt a lot with this business so should stand us both in good stead, if & when.

Just be thankful it wasn't the Clap eh.

A bit of perspective, we think that we have problems tracing and quarantining here, have a read of this:

    https://www.sacbee.com/news/coronavi...243555117.html

In short, Church defies order not to meet in person and 160 people attend
One tests positive for coronavirus and six tracers are sent to follow up. Tracers could only find 25 people to test because the congregation refused to talk to them.
    The price of freedom........

All of them will meet their Maker( or the one with Horns) one day & not in a good way & will be held to account for their selfishness.

Homeless people here have been provided temporary accommodation. Governments should make permanent arrangements, instead of leaving 110,000+ people on the streets every night, I think.

You would think it would be standard procedure to test everyone who had been in isolation before releasing them. I would want to be tested. Why wouldn't people want to know if they are sick?

Its good that Victoria's cluster of new cases seem to be mainly returned travellers, with only a small number of community transmissions. I see up to 1000 people a day are still arriving from overseas.

Lots of people returning from India apparently, with what must be very high rates of infection.
Is there a website that shows the daily break-down of cases in terms of arrived traveler, community, cluster etc? Numbers coming up in the websites i look at are absolute numbers and no indication of where the daily announced cases are from, whether community transmission, known cluster or traveler in isolation.
