Seems to me this could have played a key part in the extent and magnitude of the resurgence and yet I have not really read anything about it directly related to Australia and Victoria in particular.
I think there are factors that still havent been identified. How come Victoria got so out of control yet the three girls from Queensland did everything wrong from a containment point of view and only a few cases have resulted. Similarly with the British folk that were let through in NZ. There seems to be a condition that allows "superspreaders" Similarly one infected person had lunch at a pub in Sydney and that cluster is now up to 58 cases.

There are new aspects to this.
It includes a new map specifying the area along the border in which residents can still get a pass to enter Qld. Byron is outside the border zone.
Also specifies who are 'essential workers'. For example, it appears construction workers are okay if they only go to building sites. But its a bit complicated.
Qld Police say only people with a pass will be allowed over the border after 1am - no exceptions.
Predicted to be a huge delay at the border today, so don't delay if you need to get back.

Yep, been working in Tweed today, the locals are pretty over it all.
I wasn't aware of the new zone, a lady at Corrections pulled the the map up for me and we're definitely outside, the cutoff is basically Bruns so I'd say we won't be working on the GC or going to Warwick anymore.
The Woolies and Aldi techs from up north will have to do some work for a change Corona Virus

Have you applied to be approved as an 'essential service'? Does that mean you can go outside the border zone, as long as you only go to worksites, without having to quarantine on return? Genuine question - I'm still trying to figure out what the changes mean. Still unclear to me. Maybe you have better info.

So am i,its very confusing.I am supposed to run some AC pipes, drains, etc,on a site just north of Coffs, before the end of the month,or i will be holding up the builder.
Still trying to work out if i can go or not?And take a helper.
There is no way i am going to risk 14 days in quarantine for the two of us.

TV news tonight said there was some kind of review of if Qld-based essential workers can go south outside the border zone and return without having to quarantine, so that might help clarify the confusion.
Example given was a paramedic resident on the Gold Coast who travels south over the border. If the ambulance goes south beyond the border zone shown on the map, and takes a patient back to a GC hospital, as does happen, will the ambos have to quarantine for 14 days? Didn't seem to know the answer.
Maybe it might be interesting to apply for a border pass after 1am tomorrow, answer the questions truthfully of course, and see what it says.
Maybe the designers of this did not consider the number of essential workers from Qld who travel south into NSW.
    Interesting times.
