    rubbish...

you get through quickly once and you think that is how it is all the time... i can assure you it isn't in the vast majority of places

although i don't doubt melbourne is worse with it's population density, QLD isn't that flash at times as well

Suspect its why people turn up to EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS for often in QLD, VIC or every where. Watched a few times over the decades as people with a sniffle or sore thumb demanded immediate attention. I don't recall exactly how long for me when bleeding and very very broken it in RMH last year. It was fast I think

I wish the triage nursed has a button like this for items that are not 'emergencies'

Victoria's Government says only 10 to 15pc of healthcare workers with COVID-19 got it at work. How can that be?

A Melbourne doctor who is convinced they contracted COVID-19 while working a "93-hour week" in a busy surgical ward has waited nearly two weeks for comprehensive contact tracing.

"A surgical nurse tested positive in my ward and infected at least two patients and as many as 10 medical staff," the doctor said.
One of the patients who contracted the virus from medical staff was a teenager with special needs.

    Key points:

    • An expert and a doctor have questioned the Victorian Government's statement on the number of healthcare workers who contracted COVID-19 at work
    • More than 2,000 healthcare workers are now infected with COVID-19 in the state
    • One doctor who has tested positive says the complete contact tracing on their case has not yet been done
    • Are you a healthcare worker? We'd like to hear from you

Take an example - our farm is near the Vic/SA border, so we got to apply to uni in SA or Vic as locals. I went to Melbourne, my brother went to Adelaide. If I wanted a discounted tram fare I had to buy a concession pass - $50 per year, if I remember correctly. My brother in Adelaide got the discounted travel without having to buy a card and free travel after 10.00am. I paid a lot for rent - not only was his rent in Adelaide lower but he also got an SA govt housing allowance for students: there was nothing like that on offer in Victoria.

And that means those ambulances ramping up at Brisbane hospitals are having a slow day, not that there are no beds , you reckon. Supposition and hearsay, waiting for you to say something about Joh Bjelke. Tell you something about the Australian hospital system. Some years ago a review was done, recommendations made, and every state except Victoria signed up to the new system. They had their own way of doing things they said. Looking for the article that explains the folly of that. Will post it up as soon as I do.

Its normal for emergency cases from Northern NSW to be flown to Brisbane, not Sydney, on the Lismore-based rescue chopper, because the shorter distance means they get treated quicker, which could save their lives.
It would be most unusual for a Qld person to be flown to Sydney.
So, if we're being parochial, Qld taxpayers are subsidising northern NSW residents for emergency medical care.

Here's a job offer you don't see every day - trial a Coronavirus vaccine.
I notice the trial takes 5 months, so we won't be seeing a vaccine this year.

The average waiting time in the ED in Melbourne is 12 minutes.
