We had a 3 month European jaunt departing 1st April 2020 with a lease car, visiting 12 countries, with 55 accommodation bookings. All cancelled of course, thankful for many refunds but still about $1300 out of pocket and not much hope of doing it in the next few years!

In retrospect, we probably should have 'done' overseas before touring most of Australia!

Not sure weather opening up restrictions is a good idea with what appears to be happening in Europe and the UK at present . We have low restrictions in WA and it seems that no one takes any precautions what so ever anymore , how we have not seen any spread in WA is beyond me . Hope it stays that way .

QLD to reopen borders to 5 local NSW government areas, including Byron Bay.

    • Byron Bay, Ballina, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Glen Innes residents can soon enter Queensland
    • Residents will still need to apply for a border declaration pass
    • The Chief Health Officer has flagged further restrictions could be relaxed from Friday

It comes as the state recorded zero new coronavirus cases overnight, leaving just 16 active cases.
The extended border zone will include 41 New South Wales postcodes, spanning 11 local government areas.
Residents will have to apply for a border pass to travel into Queensland.
Queensland residents will also be able to travel to those areas from October 1.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

All the shopping centres and stores here in Geraldton still have social distancing in place and the vast majority of people that I come across on my rare visits to town comply.
Our hard border IS keeping this virus at bay at the moment But with the extra 500 overseas returnees being forced upon us this will surly Test the quarantine measures that we have in place considering the number of tossers that have been caught sneaking out of the hotels recently.

This isn't over yet by a long shot .

Our local at Yanchep has the social distancing markers and signs in place + the hand and trolley sanitizing station at the entrance to Woolies but only about 1 in 10 use it or understand what 1.5Mts means , Clarkson/Joondalup is worse .

Not dropping my guard until this thing is done with . .

WA Premier says border staying shut despite some other states relaxing their borders , WA economy is going well and no community transition for 5 months now despite overseas arrivals testing positive and in hospital or isolation . No doubt some will be ****ed off but i suppose those in charge no best .

Can still remember the regional lockdowns at the start of this problem in February or there abouts , was a bloody nuisance but may have been smart afteral although i did think so at the time as we lived on the border of the Perth region and had to cross the check point every time for shopping , Dr apps, etc .
