But they are not really fence sitters - most will be happy for pfizer, Novovax or Moderna just not AZ and would get it done in a second.

And I think that will be borne out when the pfizer (hopefully) is falling from the skies later in the year.

I am counting down the days until I get my second astra and join the vax crowd.

My son in law is early 30's and a hospital worker in a so called 'priority group' and still waiting for first shot they were meant to have back at the start when the pfizer first came in.

Even with a dedicated Quarantine facility, with this new variant,[ or others on the way] there is no guarantee that it will be 100% effective. The weak links seem to be transport of positive cases to hospital, maintaining a proper quarantine of positive cases in hospital, along side of the normal patients , a shortage of COVID patient dedicated medical staff, and shortage of dedicated COVID treatment equipment, such as ventilators etc. With the news this new variant can infect in a instant, it may be necessary to have a dedicated Quarantine facility with it's own COVID hospital, up to at least level Biosafety 2 . The Bondi outbreak just confirms we don't know enough about this virus, to make claims that we have it under control.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Lockdown for NSW ? Primary school mystery case sparks concern. A number of unlinked cases outside the geographic region could mean lockdown.

    EDIT;
The school child and the 20 year old woman from the Eastern suburbs were not in isolation when tested positive, sparking transmission fears.

I wish it could be a second. I was all set to get AZ but I was sick so postponed it - things have changed and when I called to book in again I took the next available - 27th July. I asked if I could get AZ (I’m 51) and was told ‘No - you have to have Pfizer and there’s none available’

Guess I’m waiting for a month. Brother and my Partner both have had their first shots of AZ - I would be happy to have it if it were an option.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    You got lied to

I distinctly recall they have stated that you can still opt for the astra. It is a recommendation change from over 50s' to over 60s'

If it is only a month wait think of it this way, you will have first and second pfizer jab all done possibly b4 you would have completed your astra second shot, and no concern over astra blood clots however statistically minor.

Always an upside to everything, even death.

All sick aids patients in Vic were at Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital.

All the really sick Cov 19 patients could have been looked after there in Vic's second wave instead of in dinky infectious diseases units set up in hospitals all over Melbourne after Fairfield was closed in 1994.

4000 health workers infected with Cov 19 due to a lack of concentration of cases and a dedicated facility.

There is a lot to be said for dedicated facilities (like quarantine) when dealing with infectious diseases.
