Explaining the Delta covid variant. A study in Scotland found that Delta cases in unvaccinated people led to
85 % more hospital admissions than other strains. The same study showed Pfizer offered 92 % protection against Alpha, and 79 % for Delta. AZ offered 73% for Alpha, 60% for Delta. Only after two doses .

Why is Delta such a worry? It's more infectious, probably causes more severe disease, and challenges our vaccines (theconversation.com)

What is the 'delta plus' variant? And can it escape vaccines?

That's probably been the opinion of the older generation through out history. In this particular case, it was not the ordinary person on the street that started the dog whistling. But , as you say, it was taken up by a large part of the community, over social media. Historians far into the future [ if humans are still around] will not regard this as our finest hour. And they would be correct.

I don't know how you could even jokingly say that about John. The bloke is one of the most informed and level headed people on the forum. The mere fact that he has spent a good portion of his life working in a scientific field gives him that advantage of actually being able to comprehend the plethora of information on the subject with a critical mind.

The fact that he can so succinctly distil that information into something that is easily digestible here is something we are fortunate to have.
Sorry Eevo, I think I may have gotten the wrong end of the stick here.

I thought you were referring to Johns knowledge being irrelevant ... I realise now that you were referring to a worn out body.

    Sorry mate.
    Cheers,

    Sean

I beg to differ, knowing that I can, without ridicule. I'll ask this," How would today's society handle something like the "Cold War", which we experienced?

Widespread ignorance, and an unwillingness to believe well established facts which happen to be inconvenient.

Given my generation, I could consider it as partly the result of growing up in a society where it is normal to live to the extent of your credit so as to have "now" the things that your parents saved for for years, which has led to short term inconvenience being considered as more importanty than avoiding long term consequences.

A further factor is the general discounting of real knowledge under the mantra of "My opinion is just as good as your facts!"

John; You are a wise old bloke. You've hit the nail on the head with that one. So succinctly done as to drive it home with a single blow.

It is a joke because in spite of the fact that the VAERS site itself specifically says that it is a record of adverse events that happen AFTER vaccination, not BECAUSE OF vaccination, anti -vaxers don't understand the difference.

Not only that, there is no need to prove you had a vaccine to make a entry. There is no need to provide evidence of the adverse event to make an entry. Even if those two things are true, that does not prove that the vaccine caused the event.

It is a joke, but not for the reason you suggest.
Then aren't we so glad that estimates for reporting... suggest as low as 1% of actual events.

VAERS Reporting is only the first step to full on suing for vaccine damages compensation,- for which PROOF of "BECAUSE needs be established. VERY tightly from what I've heard, yet VAERS has at 2011, forked out over $2 billion

You misunderstood my question. And I'm not going to endorse your answer, not because I don't agree in part, because I do. But certainly not in full.
