One given is QLD always gives enough notice of changes to border closures, to date I’ve been able to make it home in time…….I’ve had to make the dash 3 maybe 4 times.

What does surprise me is how Sydney airport (or any airport where the city has been locked down) stays open while sydney is in lockdown……
Yes, I've wondered that too. But I thought that there must be a good reason for it. I just haven't found one. Of concern is not so much flights from Canberra to Brisbane, we know the Brisbane airport is as tight as you are going to get it, but flights are going to Townsville, and to me if we are going to have a major outbreak, there is the weak point.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

As I understand it, if you’ve been in Sydney or transited externally at the airport then you cant fly. Domestically, the people going through the airport need to have flown into Sydney, transited within Domestic and then flown out again. So to go to Brisbane via Sydney, I cant drive to Sydney airport because I would have to catch the bus from the car park to the airport, but I can fly to Sydney and then fly out again as long as I don’t leave the terminal.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all happens. Orange airport flys to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. During Victorias lockdown there were still people flying from Melbourne to Orange. Like at Canberra, they find the way out still.
    Cheers

Yep I get I can fly into Sydney airport from a covid free location, don’t leave the airport l, than fly onto new destination.

Like I did the other week, drove from rural NSW into Sydney airport without stopping, than flew onto brisbane to beat the order closure. The policeman at brisbane did ask me where I refused the hire car……good thing I pre-pay fuel and don’t need to stop.

What puzzles me is there must be hundreds of staff to make Sydney airport function on any one day……all these people commute to and from work from a greater Sydney area, hang on isn’t greater Sydney area in some level off lockdown, but hang on the airport is an essential service…..a good number of these workers interact with travelers passing through the Sydney airport…….

The lock down may have to go beyond August, as 42 positive cases have been out in the community for all or part of their infectious period. Unlinked cases are mounting. The virus has escaped greater Sydney, just a matter of time before it escapes NSW. This will be our biggest test.

No doubt essential services??? But much like the airport drivers, they’re no doubt a notable risk!

Young people in the firing line. Preliminary research in the Northern hemisphere has found the delta variant is better at binding to younger peoples cell receptors, which may make it more severe to that demographic. NSW has more young people in the ICU with covid than ever before . From the New Daily.

EDIT . AMA Vice President Chris Moy, " both the NSW government and population need to make sure they are doing lockdown properly, " " because we don't have a high enough vaccination rate, our only hope is to lock it out, it will overwhelm us too quickly . You've got to nail it now. "

If it wasn't so serious you'd have to have an ironic chuckle..

It was only about a year ago they wanted us old ****ers to get the chop if it came to the crunch.

Naaaaaaaah young uns didn't get C-19.

Would it be too gloomy to suggest that NSW was where Australia began & could it be the place it ends?
