Anyone in Australia still using the covidsafe app? Did it find a single contact trace?

Yes indeed...foot in mouth disease....a common political trait. The thing is that politicians do not write regulations neither do they write legislation. The politicians deal in concepts and public servant bureaucrats write the regs/legislation. Once legislation is written it goes to parliament to be passed as law and if a regulation it goes to the minister of what ever department has jurisdiction over the matter at hand for his signature to make it law.

These processes mean that the politicians usually have no detailed knowledge of what the rules actually say hence all the gaffs.

That old Pommy TV show "Yes Minister" absolutely nailed it. I wonder at how few of us will remember that show. Not many I'd guess..........

The more detailed that you write the rule book the more time it will consume and the greater the chance that you will find someone who will go out of their way to find a technicality to do what they wish to do anyway. Another case that comes to mind is the arts minister in the first NSW lockdown who resigned and was fined for living at his holiday home - until the court decided he had done nothing wrong.

"The aircrew driver was diagnosed with the highly infectious Delta strain and the genomic sequencing on his virus matches a returned traveller from the US." His claim he is not patient zero as he sat near some one who coughed, His choice to not get vaccine was legal due to a choice by some government floozy. That those choices cost all of us a lot of money and freedoms is a fact.

The vaccine was not mandated for him but it was strongly recommended, especially for someone working in a position like the driver with O.S. Air Crew. His claim to have had and worn appropriate PPE is a matter for the NSW police to consider. His choice was his. It is your choice to consider if the man is smart, reckless or really stupid.

Happy to add the fool(s) that allowed him his choices are in my view worse than stupid. If I run into your car this afternoon and you could not go to work for the next 6 weeks I think I might be paying for it or my insurance might? The three revivalists who used an valid exemption and seem to be reported as being very unhelpful have ****ed us up here in Vic.

We will not be beaten by NSW lock down. The head start we had last year and the caring and sharing from NSW via Limo- Removalist and sovereign citizens here as well have almost assured Vic of another Lock Down **** it.

adding this as covid Central mantle is coming home for Vic?

Dam Dry July Makes me grumpy? Just kidding.

Nope, I uninstalled it once Service NSW updated their app to include the QR check in feature.

Well Melbourne’s heading for a lockdown because of those selfish arsehole removalists not playing by the rules. There should be a class action launched against them by all the Businesses that will be forced to close because of them.

Won’t change what’s about to happen here but wiping their sorry arses off the face of the earth as a business would be a good start.

I agree that not wearing masks on the job is unforgivable. However they might have been sacked or not paid if they were casuals and didn't complete their job. Also the definition of what is essential work had not been made clear.

The rules only work when when those abiding by them aren't afraid of losing their livelihood. This is the biggest problem with the current NSW lockdown. The current Covid emergency payments are not JobKeeper, therefore bosses have no incentive to casual keep staff on.

The specific blood clotting conditions which qualify you for Pfizer rather than AZ if you are over 60 are listed somewhere on the ATAGI web site. I have one of the conditions. Today I was informed my application for Pfizer was approved. First jab will be this Sunday.

Hi Heather, perhaps re-read the first sentence in my previous post. Cheers

Moving house is an approved activity in every state. Removalists are defined as an essential industry. That's not in doubt. But Vic rules required them to wear masks while loading and unloading.

Gladys refuses to define who is an essential worker.

Compare with Victoria which announced a five day lockdown tonight with the same list of essential industries as used previously.

Dan Andrews: 'If you're on the list, you can go to work. If you're not on the list, you can't go to work.'

Statement From The Premier | Premier of Victoria
