Re.the truck driver, I see none of the charges against him appear to involve drugs, so that should end that speculation. His solicitor said he had suffered previous panic and anxiety attacks and an undiagnosed condition and needed psychiatric help while in custody, so I hope he gets it.

The Porsche driver tested positive for cannabis and ice.

Would need something showing the age of drivers involved in all crashes, not just the fatal ones, to get a proper result.

Young drivers on NSW roads the most at risk, and the most dangerous - finder.com.au

However even the age death figures show younger drivers die more than over 65 drivers.

They also bend inward a few metres if they get hit too. You want to be well back if you can. Work gives me the dubious privilege of working in the middle of the freeway cos they built a rail line there.

The 40k slow down laws are good in principle but the application is often terrifying especially if not everyone's doing it. A few sting operations and you'd get enough publicity and fear to make people do it.

An odd place to situate a railway Line. But then Com Rail & SAR had one or two down Port Pirie's EllenAttachment 160245 street yonks back. The old Terminal Building still stands, a Museum now.

If he was over 70, in SA he would have needed a medical by a GP before he could renew his licence. I guess much the same in Vic & elsewhere?

I see he is only 45 but if he has those problems that are reported, then in SA he would deffo need a GP Assessment Report before renewing his licence. With that history it sounds like he shouldn't have been driving at all.

NO.

but that doesnt mean he didnt lie to the licensing mob. When I converted my HC over to WA license I needed a "full medical" done in under 3 minutes and most of that was in the waiting room.

I had a hearing test done as part of the medical for my MC license which I thought was strange considering the amount of people I see driving cars with headphones on. - Not the single ear ones that come with a phone ,im talking full blown headphones like you used to see people wear on planes.

Qld. Rail did this years ago. The one I remember best was right down the street out of the station at Rockhampton. This was the main North Coast Line. Also the one out of the 'Gabba yards across Main Street and down Stanley Street where a shunter walked in front of the loco with a red flag and ringing a bell. Blue Line in Los Angeles from Downtown to Long Beach runs on streets most of the way and not piddly little commuter trains solely. Main Line UP & SP heavy freight trains in and out of Port of Long Beach.
