Anyone still remember the guarantee of - post before midday - overnight metropolitan delivery ?

    - Whenever I had a (Specialist) morning appointment, his account would arrive next day. Afternoon added one more day. About 40km t'other side of Perth

I ordered some mounting screws for a computer on the 8th of August from China. Being China I allowed for some travel time. Going by the online tracking they where cleared from customs in Australia on the 1st of September and it has taken 19 days to get to the Australian post Dandenong South distribution center. So I am still waiting for them to arrive. I would be some one who would think that, even given the restrictions in place, that Australia post could lift it`s game. I would like to think that if that small parcel landed at any city in Australia it should not take 19 days to get some where near me. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get from Dandenong South to my place, a distance of about ten kilometers.
On another note. We have had notices left in the letter box indicating that no one was home to receive and sign for a item. Given that the boss is just having a loooong break from employment ( do not mention retirement ) and the covid restrictions. There has been some one home all the time along with our dog Carter the master farter who will let half the street know if some one is around.

Recent deliveries of letters I have posted.

Posted at Norman Park P.O to Upper Mt. Gravatt- four working days

Norman Park P.O. to Ferny Hills- six working days

Cannon Hill P.O. to Manly West (two suburbs away)- four working days

I could have walked over and delivered them much quicker!

My WA customers often told me that they got parcels from UK and USA in less time than from the eastern states.

I bought an item on Ebay on the 10th Sep that was due for delivery around the 17th that has not arrived , I just checked the AP tracking & they are showing estimated delivery is 7th Oct. It only had to come from the east side of Brisbane to the west side of Brisbane. That is almost a month to post with in one city. I hade something come from Hong Kong earlier this year took from January to May & two of those months were with in Australia.

I was talking to postman the other day he was telling me they had been rostered on every second day so AP could clear backlog . How is that going to help? I was saying I needed to put no junk mail sign on my box & he said AP is payed to deliver junk mail so it won't stop it & his basket was full of junk mail that he had to deliver to every post box. It is a bit like the Do not call register , dose not apply to charities , politician's or scammers.

But if you get to know your Postie, they'll happily 'forget' to leave any junk mail in your letter box.

Yeah, it took 2 weeks to get a part from Hallam recently for me - a 70KM trip I usually make most weekdays, so very painful to have to wait that long.

I've got stuff sitting at Bayswater too that is too heavy to post and I would have loved to grab it several weeks back as it is required to get my Motor home basically complete, but it's not going anywhere, so can collect a bit more dust until we are allowed to move around again.

The postal service was going backwards long before the China virus stepped in as an excuse for everything going wrong.
