    no....

they cross questioned each other to lead into glorious results.

I see disco mick suggested that businesses created the jobs but I believe many of the statistics were fabricated.

If it were true , just by sheer weight of numbers many of you here would know someone becoming beneficial of the those jobs , but you don't see anyone benefitting , do you?

I don't wish to be 'down' on a young person or anyone who can't find a job, as maybe there are circumstances that I am unaware of.

But I will say this, I have never been without a job, if I wanted a job. Pre internet days, I used to go and visit the workplaces I wanted a job at, and leave my references, or cv they call it nowadays. didn't sit at home waiting for a job to be advertised in saturdays paper.

Ok, now I am in a profession where I can get a job tomorrow if I quit the job I have today. But a couple of years ago, I decided to do something different and applied for jobs that I had never done before, ok they weren't university type jobs, pretty menial, but I got a job straight away.

In my own life, I have found, that when I want to earn a buck, as long as I am not too fussy...I get a job. And as I told my kids, having a job, creates opportunities for other jobs, networking, getting known, getting to know people etc. Getting a work history most importantly!

no I don't think someone should have to travel hundreds of k's to work. But maybe they should look at their situation and decide whether they need to move. I have moved 2500kms for a job, so I can say that!

And university qualifications in a crisis meant squat to me mate. That is half the problem, setting standards too high. I am too good for that job, so the govt can pay me to stay home instead.

And yes thanks for that, congratulations to me indeed, for getting out and getting a job when I need it. Initiative I think it is called, although modern society is happy to nanny up and take that away from people.

yes you have a point there, many businesses only accept online applications these days, which sucks. Much better to see who is applying in my opinion.

If there is nothing else available then why not, At least they would be earning a quid while they are waiting for the right opening.

Do you mean should an unemployed worker have to do some manual work? In the eyes of Centrelink that is what you are, an unemployed worker.

Exactly mate, go ask an airline pilot who is now driving a tractor. They did the hard yards, most senior airline pilots who are now flying us around, didn't have loans to get their qualifications, they learned to fly at their own expense, held down poorly paid jobs as flight instructors to get the hours up...no govt handouts. They got their qualifications and they now find themselves out of a job. The ones now doing 'menial jobs' obviously have decided not to get onboard the gravy train of self entitlement.
