Any death where the person is lab confirmed as having covid is tagged a covid death.
Would be still fair to say Covid is a trigger event.
Pity they did not publish any data on vaccination status.

So a person that is asymptomatic with Covid (without knowing) and a history of high cholesterol with arteries like grease traps, dies from a heart attack. At the post mortem it is discovered that they are positive for Covid. This, in my non medical opinion, is not a death from Covid nor is it related to the Covid infection that was not known.
This is the fear that the Grubberment are clinging to in order to perpetuate their control measures (see WA). This is the fear that the media cling to in order to maintain or increase sales, ratings and advertising revenues. As far as the grubberment are concerned they view it as ..."a population in fear is a population that can be controlled".
WHEN? do we get back to living because this is not it? This year? Next year? 2052? After the 13th booster?
Anyone..........? (crickets)
I'm with you there chook , but even if the whole elected government , ie every politician , is thrown out of office by the Governor General , which is currently being pursued , it's still going to take years to bring things back to full honesty and integrity. Its a real pity good doesn't spread like evil.
For some unknown reason when politicians are elected they get the title "The Honourable". This title should be earned not just bestowed because people voted for you, very few are actually "honourable".
I reckon you wouldn't need to drop you pants to count the number of politicians that deserve this title, in fact you wouldn't even need to take your shoes and socks off. [thumbsupbig]
The problem is that the politicians are driven by what keeps them in government. It wasn't long ago that there was some particularly vitriolic comments between states (even on here) how the government weren't locking us down hard enough. It is a brave politician who would revoke all the restrictions based on unmeasurable public sentiment. If you were the NSW Premier would you be enthusiastic to repeal restrictions when you did that in December on advice that Omicron was not the end of the world and was promptly pilloried for the removal of those restrictions causing the end of the world.
People are stupid and expect the government to address their personal needs , except where it might cause inconvenience or restrict them in some way.
It would be really interesting to know if the NSW restrictions that were hastily reintroduced in the face of a public backlash actually did anything to stop the spread of Omicron. Dr Nick Coatesworth doesn't think that it did much to assist.....Omicron ‘clearly not’ as threatening as flu, says Dr Nick Coatsworth | news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site
Edit - and both NSW and Victoria have announced the rollback of many restrictions, so they are hardly clinging to restrictions to control the populace

Opinions are like :)
Its all trying I guess. Many of us may not have like the LET IT RIP or its too late to stop it and we have to learn to live with it from NSW. Happily And I mean very happily Omicron has not see the death rates go much beyond 20 per day average in NSW. (it is still at that level)
Positive is good? The news is vaccinations and infections unless you dig a little in NSW? Vic shows deaths on the front page. Just 9? I wonder if the race to be the worst death rate might move to NSW? No matter as almost everyone is trying.
in 1999 flu out break a LOT less people died. Not sure how it is being put up as worse. It is also almost easy to avoid for those who choose to get the annual Flu vaccine.[bighmmm]
to be fair. QLD looks great data, South OZ , WA took 3 click to get to page. It suggested 10 deaths which seemed off to me? Tassie is sweet as usual [biggrin]
NT link Sorry ACT. Kids Vax call me back to work now [bigrolf]
Sounds like it is on the money to me, 10 cov19 deaths in TOTAL from the very start of the pandemic .Quote:
It suggested 10 deaths which seemed off to me?
WA appears to be doing a Crap job of keeping up to the higer numbers of deaths on the Eastern seaboard[bigwhistle]
2,509 Coronavirus Cases and 444 Active in WA - COVID Live
The ABS report deals with the "from" and "with" distinction - evidently people who are medically trained (i.e., doctors) are making that call when they lodge their reports, and they're doing so in line with the agreed definitions, including, apparently, WHO ones.
But if you're suggesting that deaths from Covid are actually rare and the whole thing's a massive, all-encompassing conspiracy between all levels of Government and all of the political parties - Liberal, Labor, Greens - and the media, and the entire medical profession, then I think that you're going to have to explain, for example, how a bunch of political parties that can't govern themselves could be so organised.
Kind of ironic given that you're in Queensland which has had bugger-all infections or restrictions over the last two years. I've had three jobs during the pandemic and I would've been in the respective offices maybe a month in total since November 2019 - and that's across all three jobs. I literally didn't recognise one of my new colleagues the other day when she was standing outside a bar we were all meeting at.
No-one is going to force you to have boosters, same way no-one forces you to get the updated flu-vax every year. But Covid is probably now endemic, like the flu, and some years it'll be good and some years it'll be bad: I'll be getting any updates that are offered.
Covid is a trigger event - a trigger for the State Governments to ascribe the person as a Covid 19 death until the ABS takes the cause of death from the Death Certificate and identifies that in their register - only then does the causative effect of Covid - or otherwise - become useful long term data. In the meantime dying with Covid 19 and from it may be exclusive things but the death cert is the only way of knowing. Covid may be a trigger for death in the sense that it was a material contribution to a person's death, but likewise it may not have had any material contribution. I get the need for the current reporting of people dying with Covid 19 but clarification figures dont seem to be published - apart from the ABS - not that i have seen at least coming from the Qld Govt at press conferences.
