All true, but it can't have been a great existence at that stage for them. It isn't just the moment of falling off the twig, it would be the pain, suffering, worry before the next step into the unknown, especially if one wasn't a regular Churchgoer & had a bit of a clue that had been drummed in previously.


In the event it could be all ballcocks but who you going to argue the toss with, the Gatekeeper, & hope they have a Data Base so they can contact you down the track?

I participate in the NZ and Aust Flu tracking survey each week for a few years now. Weekly emails are linked to the survey and you fill it out according to whether you have flu symptoms, or since this pandemic, symptoms related to covid etc. I got a summary email from them today.

- Influenza-like illness remains low, but similar to 2020
- 89.8% of participants reported receiving their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, and over 75.1% reported receiving their second dose
- 59.9% of participants reported receiving an influenza vaccine
- On average per week, 30.5% of participants with fever and cough reported being tested for COVID-19
- Participants under 5 years of age have the highest rates of influenza-like illness

They create a comparative graph of the data each week. Not sure if this is NZ and Aust or just NZ though as the title is not specific.

I was reading the other day that it is believed some strains of the flu have gone extinct due to the covid infection control measures.

Yes. The northern hemisphere looks at the types of flu seen in places like Australia during our winter to see which variant is likely to appear in the following northern winter, but have found that only very few samples are available, simply because there was almost no flu diagnosed here during the winter. And Influenza B, one of the four usual variants in recent years, is totally missing.

Yes, was reading similar here in NZ. I think I recall the article did mention though that as we open up, any flu variant around will likely be hard hitting due to a reduced herd immunity from two seasons of very low 'uptake'. Likely similar to the recent RSV thing that did the rounds here a few months back.

I got hit by that RSV and I was a sick little puppy for a while - it was a doozy!

Agreed Good thing I don't make inane assumptions and ask inane questions (unless making informed assumptions and asking pertinent questions hasnt been what I have been paid to do day in and day out for over 30 years ). Anyway, clearly an emotive topic and I will leave it alone for the sake of peace and harmony on this great site.
